danimal writes "Has anyone ever ordered from Fastmusic? I have done it a couple of time with satisfactory results. I placed an order with this one month ago and I still don't have a damn thing. I've sent them e-mail asking the status of my order. I have called a couple of times to only leave a message.
What the hell is wrong with them? Most of the time they have the better prices but generally I order from them becasue they have the stuff I want in the catalouge. Are there any sites on the net that carry a good punk selection but won't leave you hanging for a month on the order (and yes, I know they may not have something in stock so it can take a couple of weeks to get it in, but not telling me that is the case it just plain wrong)." I don't have much experience with buying from Fastmusic, so I can't say whether this is a common occurance. There is a great little indie store near my place in the city, so I usually buy locally, but for a lot of people, the internet is only way to get the music they like. I've tried Interpunk, and they're pretty good, though Fastmusic deserves support, if only for the amount of work and support they've given to the community, so if this is something that happens a lot, you guys should comment below, so they can be made aware... Update: Our first poll ever was a few online music stores, you can see the results here. Rants! (3 comments)

yeah, I've only ordered from fastmusic twice, once they hooked me up, but the second time i got screwed!! All this over a Unsung Zeros cd!! Bah! but, you should check out either Revelation Records : www.revhq.com or Initial Records: www.initialrecords.com/onlinestore at least when initial doesn't have crap, they call you!!

Their mailing is fair. Not good, not bad, but fair. Both times i've recieved shit fair and on time. However, I know a lot of people that have had nothing but shit with them. I don't know, because there's 2 really great indie stores within 10 minutes of my house, so I usually go there. I sorta think that Fastmusic is working on the store thing still. They've always seemed more as a community and label that a distro. The distro seems more of a side thing.

you people or totally right! I been buying music online for about 2 years now and will NEVER go back to fastmusic again, I order about a total of 6 or 7 times and NOT once did the order go right, everytime I've had to call, I started call this one girl that works there buy her name and she knew by my name. bottom line is they suck, they charge your card before it even goes out and you can NEVER trust their in stock symbol, for me its never been right. since then I do all my shopping with INTERPUNK and they are great!! also with RevHQ.com also good and fast. I really don't think fastmusic knows what they are doing, and their site is hard to follow at times...i just don't like them at all...its nice to know that I'm not the only one with problems with them.

I like Interpunk a lot. They have a good selection, good cd prices and fast shipping. The shipping charges are slightly high, but they are fast. I got my order in 3 days. They also have great customer service. They reply to e-mails quickly and you can check your order status online.
Marc (October 17, 2000)
You should try www.vitalmusic.net They have a huge selection, and a ton more underground stuff than interpunk. But ive never ordered from vital music so i dont know if theyre good. They been doing it since some time in the 80s though so i guess it works all right. I usually use interpunk though. they let me send cash and they ship it wicked fast.
chocobo_king* (October 18, 2000)
wow, sounds like these guys are totally unprofessional. i was going to order the 'im the one' single by descendents. i better not now, from what i hear from you guys, they'll ever over-charge me, or backorder it, or the single just doesnt exist (it is pretty hard to find) know where i can get it?
Anthony Bennett (October 18, 2000)
Personally, I don't care for fastmusic at all. I would much rather order from revhq or rotz, or even directly from the label if its only 1 release I want. Their entire network lacks integrity and professionalism.
Null Pointer (October 18, 2000)
you should check out Vital Music they are a great mail order out of New York, with really good resonable prices with most cd's about 10 to 12$ with postage paid. The longest it has ever taken me to get an order from them was 2 weeks from the day i mailed my money to them. Check them out.
Kirk (October 18, 2000)
Yea, I've used Vital Music before and think their really great. The first time it took about a month to get the stuff, but the last few times its been about 2 weeks. I really recommend Vital Music to everyone out there
Not telling (October 18, 2000)
Fastmusic charged my credit card as soon as I ordered, then a Month later, I still hadn't recieved the cd (Saves the Day). For every email I sent asking where it was, I recieved a polite apologetic reply, saying I could wait or cancel. After about a month and a half, I cancelled the order and ordered from Amazon. My credit card was refunded. A little annoying, a little illegal but it didn't bother me that much...
AllroysRevenge (October 18, 2000)
I ordered the new AAA and One Man Army cds when they first came out, because they were ready to ship that day and were pretty cheap. Sounded like a good deal. Well, after 3 weeks of nothing, I e-mailed them many times telling them to let me know the status of my order. They never replied to me. If I had to cancel my order that was fine by me, by this point I was so fed up I just wanted to go the store to get them. I finally got a response from someone who worked there saying my order would be there in 2 weeks. The two weeks passed and no order. Needless to say, I was pissed off. So, they shipped it off a week later, and it seemed the whole mess was over...until 3 months later, I recieved the same cds and was charged again on the credit card. They did charge before they sent the merchandise off which is just plain wrong in the first place. So, we sent back the

I have placed two orders from Fastmusic.com, and neither has been completely filled. About four months ago, I ordered the Slick Shoes / Cooter split and the Misconduct / Almighty Trigger Happy split. I received the Slick Shoes / Cooter one about a week after I ordered (I couldn't complain, though, because at the time they were shipping free inside the US). But I never got Misconduct / Almighty Trigger Happy. The response to the first e-mail I sent was apologetic, saying they had to wait for the shipment from Sweden, and I could either wait or cancel. Stupid me, I opted to wait. It's been four months and, well, no cd. I've e-mailed them a bah-zillion times, asking for my money back. They have not responded to any of them, and according to my credit card statements, the money has not been put back. Well, being the gullable fool that I am, I decided to wait on ho

Bad Taste will fill orders and they will have it in stock guarenteed. I think they charge real cheap especially for the split Ep's, probably like 6-8 buck 'merican...Go there for your bad taste stuff, or e-mail me, I may have a couple copies of that split kicking around..(Mis/TH)

Just to clarify, www.PunkWarehouse.com is not the store provided by Fastmusic. We are a seperate website that has nothing to do with the poor record of FastMusic.com. We provide a great selection, prices and service. The unhappy customers of Fastmusic have become so after months of dissapoining service that had nothing to do with us. We worked with them on a trial basis for one week as a test but that will not continue. I appreciate your information but if you are unhappy with the services of Fastmusic that should not reflect in any way the service you would recieve at PunkWarehouse.com. I hope you try us out.
Tracy (October 18, 2000)
Yea Fastmusic is real unreliable source to buy music. I ordered about 6 CDs and I only recieved two of them. They said the other 4 CDs were out of stock. They did not call me to inform me of this they just sent part of the order with a little note. They should state next to the record that they are out of stock on it so you dont expect to see it when you get your order. Interpunk is pretty good I have only shopped there once. What I can recommend is buying straight from the record lables's site. They usually always have the lowest prices and always in stock.
hcjeff (October 18, 2000)
saulgoodman.com is really good and they get stuff to you fast. in general, they have a bigger emo(?) catalog.
Keith (October 18, 2000)
thats were your wrong this is NEWS, this is the biggest news I think in a long time, look at the all the post people have left. this my be as big as the the Goodyear re-call!! something should be done, I just what to know when Fastmusic will respond or if they have even read this yet. Anyone know? lastely does anyone know of a really good Canadian online ordering website out there that has a lot of Canadian punk rock from canadian punk rock labels?, some releases are hard to find in the U.S.
danimal (October 19, 2000)
So I talked with Neal at Fastmusic. He filled me in on a few things, the biggest one being that Fastmusic is a really small group, 2 people! While that doesn't excuse the poor customer service, it does explain a lot. I doubt I will order anything from Fastmusic for a while, but I will continue to support the label and bands on it. -danimal

Ok Here it is:
Since we started this "thing," as people have often called us, we've always been misunderstood. In Sept ’97, we launched a resource site. Less than a year later, we started the label by signing the Frownies, and in Nov '98 the online store was launched. Things went well for the following 1˝ years. Then as the label and store grew, we realized we were too small to do it all. So we decided to get an indie distro to pack and shipped. Now, here’s where things went wrong (April 2000). The distro was apparently screwing everyone, and was put on hold by every label, including us! So, they couldn't fill the orders, we got ripped off and lost thousands, and had to hire a programmer re-write our system to deal with the mess. And what a mess it was.
We always tried to keep our prices as low as possible, and have NEVER made any money on selling CD's.

I highly doubt that anyone "would probably pay to watch you go under." I think that people just expect a certain level of service when you say you can ship the next day and people have to wait months for orders, and in my case wait months for a refund (yet to be filled). No one has denied the fact that you are trying to do something good for the community. Running a business with 1-4 people must be hard, but if it is that hard, don't promise things you can't keep. No one's out to get you, just get what they paid for.
TJ (October 21, 2000)
The Truth about Neal and Fastmusic is that it's a lie. Neal only cares about himself. Warning !!!! Do not do business with Neal Ganslaw you will be sorry. Ask the bands and the people who worked there. Neal talks about doing something good for the community. That's also a lie. The CD that Fastmusic released for this anti-gun-violence is a scam. I don't believe Neal will ever send these people a check. This guy wants to blame everyone but him self. He should wake up and get a life and stop screwing all the bands,The Punk Community and the people who have worked there.
Mark (October 22, 2000)
No shit, he should re-name the company Pass the buck.com He takes no responsibility for anything. A lot of my friends have done listings on the various sites he hosts. Hes always got some lame-ass excuse why shit doesn't work. In anycase the bands suck (except Cooter and the Unsung zeros) and the fucking store is useless. He should sell shoes (although he'd probably ship 2 left ones instead of 1 of each)
anthony (October 22, 2000)
Whats wrong with this sentence "The TRUTH, but Neal Ganslaw. Is that even possible???????????
John Baird (October 22, 2000)
He told you 2 people work there. Hes a fucking liar, try 4 or 5 and from what I hear their hands are tied because neal won't fix the store. My best friend worked there all summer, Neal can't lie his way out of this. I could get 10 to 15 people to confirm this and all the other non-truths hes posted here. He really should close the store and move to Egypt or something. Hey but thank God for Fastmusic, gives us all something to do, post the truth about their site that takes money from innocent victims and ships nothing.
Tom J (October 22, 2000)
Don't believe Neal. The whole thing is just one big lie. He has fucked over all the bands, employees, friends, interns and The Punk community. This guy is bad news.
Someone (January 18, 2001)
Fastmusic had no chance with Camille Sciara working there. She is just one evil fuck, remember Grass, Dutch East, Gruntshop/Ten23? All labels who stabed people in the back. Look deeper than Neal if you want to find what's really going on. You'd think someone of her age (48, yes she is!) would know better . | Features

I placed an order with Fast Music last year and well... They did a few things that were wrong: First: they charged my credit card before they even mailed anything. This is illegal. Second: when i ordered they said that all the items i wanted were in stock. It turns out some of them weren't and that they were even out of print. Of course i found this out a couple of months later. Third: they just gave me the run around and didnt offer any compensation to me. They got away with a little bit of my money and have never corrected any of their mistakes. Not even an appology. So fuck fastmusic. Interpunk is a good place to buy from.
