Slowdance Records has announced their first signing outside of their timezone, Michigan's Rescue. The label will be releasing the band's new EP entitled Flamingo Minutes on May 4th, 2004. The 7-song EP is composed of the more "transitional" songs the band has written since their last album. The band will keep working on their impending full-length, but no word as to what label will be releasing it.

what about all that "hype" on this band? i remember reading somewhere this band was going to sign with a major or something and record with some hot shot producer. or was all the hype just "street team" postings by friends of the band or the band themselves? never even heard of this slowdance label. i remember thinking to myself that it was odd that a band as unoriginal and mediocre as rescue was getting all of this "hype", so them signing to a label i've never heard of makes much more sense. 3+ Replies

i've heard of the velvet teen but never payed any attention to what label they were on. even so, that is ONE BAND.
if they were so great you would think they could get on a label that has more than ONE BAND that's half way popular.
you obviously have no idea how labels work if you think that artist direct going under means rescue automatically can only be on a tiny label now. 99% of the time if there is 1 major offering a band a deal, then 2 or 3 more were also interested in the band and would have picked them up when artist direct went under.
there is a difference between "REAL" hype, and bullshit hype. do you think that if the major Thursday was signing to suddenly went under that no other big label would have picked them up and thursday would have ended up on some tiny label with only one band? get real. you're fucking clueless. and if thursday doesn't d show rest of comment 1+ Reply
