Fugazi on Hiatus

A lot of rumours have been floating around about the potential retirement of Fugazi [reviews]. So, rather than let these rumours float around unsubstantiated, we called the label to find the actual story.

I spoke to Alec Bourgeois, the press contact at Dischord, who explained that the band is on "hiatus" which is to say, while they haven't broken up, they have no current plans to tour or record due to personal and family commitments.

Frankly, Fugazi has earned as much time off as they need, but I'm sure that we're all looking forward to their return.

Unfortunately for you, smart guy, you are wrong. Fugazi has refused major label offers for years to the point that major labels have even tried to buy Dischord just to own Fugazi's catalog. Fugazi does not even make t-shirts. They say they are a band to make music not money. I guess their "music" to you is "shitty songs." However, anyone can read your posting and know not to listen to anything you say. The medium is the message.

that t-shirt was NEVER liscensed by fugazi. it was made by a company in boston, in which ian told the company to put the royalties toward a charitable organization of thier choice. the band saw no money to it. so get YOUR facts straight. dumb fuck.

NoFX. The last two records were fantastic. Also, The Rolling fucking Stones!!! been rocking for over 40 years, and though their new stuff isn't their best, it's fucking awsome considering age, drug damage, and inner-band conflict.

i sure hope this isn't permanent. when a band has been around for nearly 2 decades, and their most recent album is their best, you know they're special. think about most bands. towards the end of their career, they release an album that makes everybody say "what the fuck happened to this band?" Fugazi did the opposite. "The Arguement" is fugazi at their best, and i certainly hope that they've got at least one more masterpiece up their sleeves.

The Black Sea (now known as Decahedron or something like that) sounds similar to later Fugazi work (The Argument). Some people call it art rock, but it is still damn good. I have the EP.

I see at as a term that a lot of people misuse. I've heard it describe dance, techno, etc. It's basically psychedelic reggae. And I love it. The Upsetters, King Tubby and the likes. -BSD
