Our friends and co-conspirators at AMP have updated their website with this months new stuff: "New issue of AMP Magazine posted online with features on Strike Anywhere, Madball, Nora, Motion City Soundtrack, Breather Resist, and more. Also a feature on essential records that you should own with input by Against Me!, Sum 41, Hot Water Music, Thurday, Andrew W K, The Distillers, Cohheed Face to Face, NOFX, and more.
The CD giveaway section for subscriptions has also been updated with new stuff, like the new Descendents teaser, and classic Circle Jerks CD's."

Yeah, that subscription thing is sweet. it's also rad to see the punknews stuff in print. This seems like the best punk magazine around. Like the most informative, and best to read to see what is happening in the punk rock world.

AMP is a wonderful zine and they were really nice guys to moi as well! I did that subscription with the two free CDs and they accidently sent me a wrong one, the new Fifteen, and when I e-mailed them letting them know they sent me Give Up The Ghost and said I could keep the Fifteen. Rock! Interpunk also sent me Jeff Ott's solo CD, so I had a very Fifteen Christmas. - Kirby

You know, I read the punk rock esentials piece that they did this month, with Against me! and Jawbreaker and stuff, and I think it made me look at this magazine in a whole new light. I always liked AMP just fine, but this came across like they really cared about the music, and that they were tryng to get kids into some really esential bands. I wish that when I was 16, or even 18, or even 20 that somebody had asked all of my favorite bands what records they would recomend to their listeners. It would have saved me a lot of time, and even turned me onto a couple that I missed. Any ways, props to AMP- that was a sweet piece.

After i looked at all these Ive gone and got afew of the albums like The Replacements Let It Be suggested by Agianst Me! and I think The Bouncing Souls. The Replacement are really good.

Wow- did anybody else see that pop-up that came up? The AMP hardcore comp thing- are those unreleased tracks? It's like five bux for pretty much all of the best HC bands going right now. It says volume 1- I wonder if they are going to keep putting out hardcore CD's. Who would they have for the next one- it's not like they missed anybody.

Yeah, I subscribed last week and got that Descendents EP. It's not even in the stores for a few more weeks, and I am rocking to it right now. That was a pretty sweet deal. It's pretty damn god. Classic sounding Descendents stuff.

amp is the least full of shit magazine there is, Scooter and Bret Mathew's are damn journalist-ical geniuses, they speak their fuckin minds, I dont see many other publications doing the same, if they dont like something then they'll say so, there needs to be more of that in music/the publications that go along with it, too many people are too damn afraid to say something about something they dont like, the only people speaking out against bands that really do suck are kids, and AMP seems to be the perfect outlet for bands and anyone else who has an opinion to voice it, I dont see the same thing happening in AP, AP is just a fuckin trend magazine, go to their website and look at the cover-history, the latest "in" bands grace the cover every month, I mean whats so "alternative" about simple plan? Not a damn thing, and AMP would be the first to tell you that....not AP......i've

I agree. amp is awesome. It really makes me happy that I can read about bands I like every issue, and still find out about other cool bands that I should know about. I end up liking a new band every issue that I had no idea about. Gunmoll, The Network, Northstar, None More Black, etc...

Haha- Scooters column last month- "DEAR EMO QUEERS, Looks like we awoke a sleeping sissy. I guess one of our reviewers, who shall remain nameless, ok- Ramsey, reviewed an emo, acoustic, "shed a tear for me" band who will also remain nameless in an attempt to maintain my professionalism. Ok, they were called Pictures Of Annie. Fuck it. You little girls brought this upon yourselves. So anyways, the review was a good review. Well, it was a bad review, but it stated what the music sounded like, and whether or not it was a good version of it. That's what we ask our reviewers to do. The fact that Ramsey threw in "shit like this really gives acoustic guitars a bad name", well, hell I thought that might have been a little over the top, but still fucking hilarious none the less. One of the little sissies even started lecturing me about how Dashboard Confessionals (who was also mentioned in the review as a point of comparison, if that tells you anything about how tough the record was) is the greatest and most talented band since the Beatles. WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU JUST SAY? That kid is going straight to hell for sure. And then they say that we gave it to somebody who doesn't like that type of music. First of all- we are not an emo magazine. Did you send it to Country Music times as well? Why not? Exactly. Second of all- you're an idiot. I'm still pissed off about the Beatles comment. Third of all- look at our reviewers tastes. Ramsey was the best chance you had at getting a decent review. If you want to see what "giving it to the wrong person" yields as a review, send me 2 more copies and I'll pitch em' to Sammy The Mick and Mitchy Poo. That should make for some fun reading. And lastly- a couple of you claimed that the record review section is for constructive criticisms (how fucking pussy is that by the way!), and that we had no right to just rip a record. You obviously have never had to "constructively criticize" over 300 records a month. And it's not "records criticisms corner, where we all hold hands and talk about how to make a better day", it's record fucking reviews. That was his review of it. Like I said, I thought the whole "shit like this really gives acoustic guitars a bad name" thing was a little over the top (yet oddly, getting funnier by the second)…….. until I went to your web site. That's where I found your songs. I think each one of you little sissies should pull a piece of paper (or as you probably refer to it- an untainted "canvas" from your "soul journal") out of your little emo backpack, sit down, and write Ramsey a letter, thanking him for being so kind in his review. I trust Ramsey, along with all of our other reviewers. They are the best, and that's why they are here. If you send in a sissy record and some-one calls you on your sissy shit, don't cry to me. Go write another sissy record about it, and then send it elsewhere. I think you will see that AMP is a celebration of music, and we genuinely care for the bands that we cover in the pages, but if we didn't call crap crap in the record review section, we would be doing our readers a great injustice. If I knew of any emo magazines… (well first of all, I wouldn't admit it if I did; second of all, if I did, I would just shoot myself in the face; but other than that…) I would let you know where you could possibly send your CD for review. Just because it's not our thing doesn't mean it's not somebody else's thing…. maybe. So send it to them. If you want to send it to us, just in case we like it, cool, we have a very open policy about that- just don't send your street team of emo-ites whining, complaining,bitching, and moaning… boo-fucking-who (-Ian MacKaye. Look into it, it might change your life!) if someone gives it an unfavorable review." Now that's how editors of a punk mag should think. AMP rocks.

I hate AMP because it's popular and now I am cool because I hate AMP and I can say things like i read Razorcake and other cool underground zines instead and still no body will hang out with me or sleep with me and I'm still jst a looser even though I'm cool for publicly denouncing something that is popular because it's good. Seems like you could take out "AMP" and put just about anything that's widley accepted in the underground and people would make that same statement. I guess we are dealing with an underground where people will try so hard to be different that they will talk bad about things they probably know nothing about just to seem cool. Sucks.

I just ordered a subscription, the bonus disk deal is pretty sweet... ...but I'm just wondering, does my subscription start out with issue #6 or does with start out with next months issue #7?

I'm sure you could tell thm which one you wanted to start with. When i got mine, I started it with #5, but had them send me #3 (back-issue) as one of my magazines as well. They did just that. Quite cool.

That was a pretty good interview... he gave me a better understanding of how major labels work & how bands like H2O can easily get fucked over by them.
