I think it's good for musicians to put their money into their beliefs. Fat Mike is extremely anti-Bush and I think overwhelmingly, most bands on fat or mainstream punk labels (Fat/Epitaph/Hopeless/Jade if you will) are of the same belief. NOFX is a popular group and this comp wil likely influence many young kids. I hope everyone scrutinizes this cd very carefully, because political rthetoric is very persausive. I assure you, this man has an agenda, he is not being self-sacrifing toward a cause. I have never seen the word "humility" in a NOFX song. Anyway, the bands look good. I won't support this by buying it, but I hope if you enjoy it, you will like it.

I just got back from seeing Kucinich, and while I don't think he's a viable candidate for president you should listen to what he says about interconnectedness. Someone else's problem can easily become your problem (ie higher crime rates if you just tell the homeless to starve), and if you ever end up in a situation where you need a social program to survive you'll be glad it exists. Not everyone is born wealthy. Separate from that thought, it might be worth it to mention more of that money goes towards our oversized military than anything else, and Bush is actually spending a ridiculous amount of money with no sustainable plan to be able to keep the governemnt running (revenue through taxes). There isn't an infinite amount of debt we can go to, and the more money is in bonds the less is in the economy.

That's simplistic thinking. Ultimately your place of employ might every well not be in business were it not for government programs provided with your taxes. You also wouldn't have been able to get free K-12 schooling to help get you to the intellectual capacity to be hired. And if you drive to work, you're using roads which your tax money paid for. Capitalism is the best working system, but laissez faire capitalism results in a lot of unsavory markets such as child labor, and markets which would be an inconvenience, such as paying a toll for each road you drive down to the landowners. That's why we have government programs. You get something for your tax money although admittedly a lot of it goes into things which don't directly benefit you. Take this war for example...

I think alot of these social programs, though not cut completely should be taken back a bit, I mean I live here in Missouri, one of the worse off states in the union, people make it a profession out of not working. Doing everything they can to keep from getting a job. Someone should be sent out to assess these people and find out what the deal is. I read the Fountainhead, and it was really a great book. But Ayn Rand escaped from the dreaded communist USSR. And so she is obviously anti-communist/liberal ideas, and rightfully so. I am also surprised to a degree that more punks don't affliate themselves with conservative values, because I think conservatism represents individualism to a great degree. It is very much so for state rights, rather than federal rights. But then again, I don't think a lot of people want to be affiliated with a "tradional" motto, considering part of being young is to be nonconforming to your fostering generation. I think it would be reasonable to suggest that many young people inspired by this music have liberal ideas, but as they age those ideas will change a great deal. I'd like to hear comments.

o.k., so i don't think that nader really had a mandate from anyone to run this time (correct me if i'm wrong): no primaries or anything (there's a good article on alternet.org about this) here's the bottom line: bush is FUCKING DANGEROUS!! four more years of him could be disastrous for our country (speaking to the americans here)...i know it's kind of thinking short term to think this way, but nader upsetting the balance of the election again would be really detrimental to the u.s. i even went to see nader speak several months after the 2000 election, and i respect him in every capacity besides this election bid, but the fact is, george bush DID NOT HEAR THE MESSAGE NADER PUT FORTH DURING THE LAST ELECTION AT ALL, AND HE WON'T THIS TIME all this nonwithstanding, i think he should be allowed to debate if he can get on the ballot on most states
