We got an advanced copy at the station. I was slightly dissapointed by the Bright Eyes tracks. Because of that I couldn't really get into the other half of the cd. I'm going to listen to it again and see if it doesn't get better. My suggestion is to listen online before you pre-order it. -WSUMWombat

bright eyes haters are rare. i must say i am one of them. i find their music, well oberst's music completely soulless, fake, mediocre, pretentious, pseudo-intellectual, and tacky. i think its sad people treat him like a god. he has no optimism whatsoever in his music and its a disgrace to bands who had soul and were honest like the smiths, and jeff buckley, and ryan adams, and matthew ryan, and tom waits, and beck, and stephen malkmus, and thurston moore, and everyone else he tries so hard to be. to me it seems like he's pawning this made up, suicidal depressive crap that kids who actually do have problems buy into, only to be smitten with self-destructive music that leads nowhere. im sorry but i just really hate this band.

exactly-its a phony interview making fun of all the types of people who place him in that category. If you have a problem with pure, heart-felt, original, inspired music then you have larger problems than disliking bright eyes

yeah its terrible. why make ironic comments insulting other people? its fucking hogwash.

if you believe there to be no optimism i suggest you listen to his songs on the "Holy Fool's" split or listen to many of the songs off lifted. Conor is a genius. I know for a fact that you haven't put on a conor record and sat and listened with lyric book in hand. I know this because if you had you would not have said these things.

i think he goes overboard with the ambiguous lines. im a songwriter too and i know that some of the best lines in any songs are ambiguous ones, but he's excessive with it...and even at that i dont think they're as clever as people think. i think its really fucking far fetched and phony intellection. i think he's trying to be deeper than anyone has gone before and he just cant pull it off. plus i dont think it comes from the heart...i dont think he's a bad singer, although after listening to his lyrics that make me cringe i wanna cut his larynx out and i think bright eyes have some great musical compositions and progressions, but i just think its garbage in the sense of the alkaline trio, or anything like that. i think he's very unoriginal for the hype he gets and i just find him and the whole fucking thing very pretentious and thats not the feeling you want when you're
