Adam Yauch producing new Bad Brains / New Beastie Boys record details

The official website of the Beastie Boys has noted that Adam Yauch will be producing the new studio album by pioneering hardcore act Bad Brains. The band recorded the record in Yauch's studio and it's currently in mixing. As for the Beasties' own penchant for the occasional punk song Yauch commented "I love playing hardcore, but it has been kind of nice to just focus on hip-hop for a minute. It's like a different mindset, and to stay in it for a stretch is kind of nice. Playing an instrument is like a different way of thinking."

The Beasties have just announced the title and track list to their own upcoming album, titled To The 5 Boroughs, their first full length since 1998's Hello Nasty. The first single according to Billboard will be "Ch-Check It Out." .

LOL. They put out the hits/rarities album... i think that's how labels say "it's over" just look back at all the hits and rarities albums that have been the official end of groups.

What happened to the whole Soul Brains thing? I saw them at the Superbowl of Hardcore and they were the new-old Bad Brains. They played Bad Brains songs. They had some post-Bad Brains songs, which I guess were at the time Soul Brains songs, but will Soul Brains songs now be Bad Brains songs? I'm confusing myself. Oh yeah, and agreed with above, Check Your Head rules.

I heard that they lost the rights to the name "Bad Brains" when they were dropped by Maverick Records, hence Soul Brains.

anything out by bad brains will be amazing..............these guys are just incredible.....i love their transformation over the years.....hopefully the new cd will have a mix of everything. hopefully it will be out by summer

Has anyone ever listened to the Beastie Boys old punk stuff. I just picked up the cd of their old shit. It's great. Sounds a lot like their buddies, Reagan Youth.
