LLR signs Gatsbys American Dream

LLR Recordings has signed Gatsbys American Dream [review]. Here's what the label had to say:

We here at LLR Recordings are very proud to welcome the newest members of our family the one and only Gatsby's American Dream. They have been one of our personal favorite bands and we are ve ry excited about the release of their brand new ep In The Land Of Lost Monsters. The ep will be in stores July 6th. Look for them on tour this summer with Bear vs. Shark and Name Taken."

The group only has one show currently on the block;
5/21/2004 Ground Zero Bellevue, WA Surrounded By Lions, Nobody Wins, T.B.A.

I definitely expected a much bigger label to sign them coughequalvisioncough, but they'll probably get their break eventually. As for the EP, add it to the list of anticipateds.

I would also expect a bigger label. but equalvision??? no no. i don;t think so. I as thinking more along the lines of drive-thru or lobster or suburban home or even Victory. But LLR? i can't find anything of theirs at a retailer. GAD deserves more. oh yea, and that was a shitty book. read it for Junior English. hated it.

Freemartin is better than Gatsby listen to the drumming on Freemartins music its 10 times the drumming that gatsbys, and the bas playing and the guitar work, this band is just far more musicly impressive to me than gatsby, i think the Weakend is also better than Gatsby for the same reasons.

I think both of you guys are fucking idiots, Both Freemartin, and Gatsby are amazing, both bands are EQUALY impressive music-wise, Gatsby is superior to freemartin lyricly, but to be honest Freemartin is just bit more intelligent music-wise. But expect both of these bands to be on the fore front cause they are both amazing.

Such a great band, and blessed with some really impressive musical skills. I've been listening to Ribbons and Sugar a ridiculous amount lately. This is just one of the many great up-and-coming punk-influenced progressive bands that seem to be cropping up all of a sudden (not to shortchange bands who did great technical stuff earlier, but it seems like there are a bunch of really good bands all coming out at the same time with similar influences but divergent sounds). It's a really exciting time in indie rock for musicianship.

but there's a difference between signing to Equal Vision, Drive-Thru, Jade Tree, Vagrant, Victory, etc. and signing to a major. i expected this band to sign to one of the bigger indies, at least given how much they're hyped by most websites. the biggest thing that LLR had going for them was a free sampler with drive-thru. beyond that....nothing. signing to LLR is like saying "I signed to my friends label from down the street."
