I'm sure this will stir a lot of arguments. While I can't argue with the comments about Bodyjar, how are the other bands being greedy? (Just a question for whoever comments)
writes : Australian pop punx , Bodyjar have been in the media spotlight ever since they've signed to major label (EMI), over a year ago. But when I heard their song "Not the same" on Pepsi commercial, I knew they really went too far.Is it just me or are the Australian bands the greediest of all?E.g. -Frenzal rhomb, The living end, and now Bodyjar...

i dont know anything about bodyjar and pepsi and I wonder what Frenzal Rhomb are mainstream ( are they mainstream ? really ???) - anyway I think there is NOTHING WRONG with selling out, its just music after all and the bands have the right to make money to put food on the table - if they do it for greedy I dunno this, and you dunno even so .... 2+ Replies

Most people from America don't realise this, but those bands ARE the mainstream trash over here.
It's sorta like this:
Frenzal no longer play a show for under $20. They seldom tour and when they do it's on such festivals as big day out. The only thing going for them is the fact that they brought LTJ out the other year. Add to that their absolute lack of social conscience and you've got a pretty shitty band.
The Living End are just pop rockers. They went from a half-decent rock-a-billy band to a completely formulaic pop rock band. Their newest album is terribly boring, with nothing to differentiate one song from another.
Bodyjar aren't so bad in my opinion. They've been going for a while and they've had their fair share of bad breaks and they're actually quite deserving of success. They still play some cheap shows (I saw them not long ago for like $8) and other than their show rest of comment 3+ Replies

bodyjar, frenzal and tle are just three bands out of many in australia and the entirity of aussie punk should not be put down to these three, cause there is better around the living end are essentially a rock band and can't really be classified as punk i'm not sure where bodyjar and frenzal rhomb went wrong, but i'm pretty sure frenzal were always after the big bucks anyway

Aussie punk sux. Selling out is not what bothers me. Rather, it's this bullshit attitude that as long as the song's fast it doesn't matter what the fuck they're singing about, or how crap the music is! I think most Aussie "punk" bands just have no idea how to write a decent song. Out of all the shit that One Dollar Short have released on their albums, I can think of 2 songs that are okay (board game/satellite). Could someone please tell Bodyjar that if the whole "punk" image doesn't come naturally, don't force it because you look like wankers! While you're at it, tell the Living End that guitar solos don't make a shit song sound any better, and Frenzal Rhomb that complaining about the government is unoriginal and boring! Australia needs a punk overhaul! BIG TIME! 3+ Replies

i wonder if it is just that punk is more mainstream in australia and that is why the various punk bands are getting more attention by the major labels. who knows?
