Subcity has announced that they will join the Warped Tour for the second year on the Hurley-sponsored Take Action! Stage. Each date will host ten or more different bands ranging in from indie-rock to hardcore as well as host ten different non profits spreading their message via literature, voter registration and petitions.
Confirmed bands playing the Take Action! stage include Melee, The Rolling Blackouts and Early Man on for the whole tour. Also making appearances in different markets are Amber Pacific, Audio Karate, Big D and the Kids Table, Black Fire, Bottom Line, Break Dance Vietnam, Break The Silence, Bytch Kiddy, Candy Ass, Codie, Crowned Kings, Eight Fingers Down, El Centro, Fighting Jacks, Happy Campers, Jersey, Kill Radio, Lakeside, Losing Team, Lylha, Madison, Madrepore, Opiate 4 the Masses, Oreon, Pipedown, Planet Smashers, Reeve Oliver, Silverstein, Slowdance, Stereogram, Stole Your Woman, Suffocate, The Code, The Hurt Process, The Matches, The Q, Thought Riot, Truth in Fiction, Unit F, Van Stone, Victory Within and Wanted Dead. Confirmed non-profits tabling the Take Action! area include The National Hopeline Network, Rock The Vote and NORML on for the whole tour. Joining them along the way will be Active Minds, Amnesty International, Anti-Racist Action, Boxcar Books, Common Ground Sanctuary, DATA, Food Not Bombs, Forward Minds, Global Action Network, Global, Hanover Youth Against Suicide, Hollywood Heart, Hot Boards, Mental Health Association, NARAL, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, National Youth Rights Association, Outward Bound, Planned Parenthood, Rape Crisis Center, SSE, Suicide Prevention Crisis Line, Teen Life Line, Underground Action Alliance and Wooden Shoe Books. these aren't the bands on the fall take action tour. just the bands on the stage at warped tour. it's a completely separate event but still part of the whole. check http://www.takeactiontour.com there's more info there

anyone else think it's fucked up that hurley is sponsoring the take action! stage? hurley's owned by nike and i think it goes without saying that nike is one of the biggest users and abusers of low cost foreign and sweatshop workers. just an observation, and somewhat fucked up that a company like hurley would sponsor a stage that helps contribute money to organizations that are opposed to the way they exploit foreign workers and economies. 2+ Replies
