apparently you're a bit slow. let's try and illustrate this for you. The whole point of releasing the "Rock Against Bush" series is for ANY band supporting the removal of our president in office to participate in the CD. Apparently No Doubt is one of those bands. Not only will this bring in a hefty following and increase CD sales, (thus involuntarily getting the message across to many diverse and a larger quantity of people, but will also increase the amount of money the CD makes to go towards campaigning to remove the president), but it will also allow the public to realize that, not only does the "punk" movement support this cause, but it has boiled well over into mainstream rock. Kudos to No Doubt for doing it.

I also heard that members of Yellowcard are in a Bad Astronaut Tribute band (yes, thats right, you read correctly, a tribute band for a band thats like 4 years old) called "Project Bad Ass".

Sweet, I was going to ask if anyone knew if that was a cover of the Lagwagon song. On a semi-related note Yellowcard brought out Joey on that tour and played Bad Astronaut's Greg's Estate with him. And when Armchair Martian played their last show in Fort Collins they played their cover of Grey Suits. Since BA's never going to tour, I guess that's about the closest I'll ever get to seeing them perform live.

I don't know about any hardcore claims, I agree with the "hard pop-punk" thing. The vocals take a little getting used to, and they're kind of muted a lot of the time. I'm not sure what you mean by over-production, unless you're talking about the sound clips thrown in between songs. Those can be distracting. Not every song is gold for sure, but I love their lyrics. At their best, D4 put out solid middle-class pop anthems that deflate the whole fashion show aspect of punk rock. At their worst, it's a whiny drunk guy and a loud hoarse drunk guy hollering. Their live show is entertaining for sure.

Yes, they are a pop punk band. No one really argues that. They've just got a lot of energy that is dirtier than it is "pogo".

I wouldn't call it over production, I'd call it fucking loud as hell. I love D4. It is poppy, that's why it's good.

They're a great fucking band. There's no throwback here. I listen to old hardcore and D4 ain't it. Unlike many bands doing the poppy, catchy thing, they have great lyrics that haven't EVER been about the girl that walked out on them. Always about some social issue or witty observation of the punk scene. I guess I can see why you would think the vocals are annoying, but after 6 or 7 years of listening to them, I love it. Just an acquired taste, I suppose. I think Midwestern Songs is one of the best punk albums of the '90s, give that one a shot, and if need be, skip through the samples.

I like moore, but the problem I have with him is that he takes certain "logical" steps and shows them in a way that any dissenting opinion appears stupid, when there's usually a perfectly legitimate argument against what he's saying. If fighting in Iraq is going to keep the fighting away from the United States then GOD BLESS AMERICA and let's do what we need to do! I'm all for peace and don't think war is necessarily right, but unless you want to feel unsafe in your home because there's a war going on down the street that's your decision. I for one would much rather keep the war overseas where it is. There is a rumor that another terrorist attack is planned to hit the United States this summer, and I find it beneficial to do anything we can to avoid another 9/11. Thanks.

I think everyone's making far too much of a big thing about these RAB comps... I'm buying them for the music, and if a bunch of bands want to join together like this, that's fine by me, they're free to think whatever they want, just like you and me. I certainly do not lose respect for my favourite bands because they don't act how I would act in their positions. Therefore I'll listen to what punkvoter has to say, but just like anything else, it will be with an open mind.
