Former Quicksand frontman Walter forms Walking Concert

An update to our recent story about the new project from former Quicksand vocalist Walter Schreifels. According to sources, Walter and his new ensemble Walking Concert will release their debut album Run to Be Born on August 24th on Some Records, the same label that brought his production skills to Hot Water Music's No Division.

On that note, someone should write a review of Slip.

Well they're no longer listed on Island Records' website unless they just got dropped and are searching for a new label. I remember when their website was up that many of the people in the message board said they broke up in the middle of making their new album. Take that for whatever it's worth.

They were dropped and then broke up. I don't think they ever "officially broke up" but all the dudes started doing other shit.

Haha... Some Records suck. They were the ones that freaked out on Hit List magazine and wanted their money back for ads that they took out because Hit List called one of their bad college rock radio records they released, a bad college rock radio record. That's not very HardCore far a label started by a guy from Gorilla Biscuts and a guy from Judge. I guess when you are trying to be a minor major label, ads are supposed to buy you good reviews. Good luck. Seems the last 7 years have been prosperous!! Haha...

Yeah, I remember reading about that. that's funny. You would think that a lable with some of those big releases would have a bigger foothold in the undertground, and nobody really knows about them.

"On that note, someone should write a review of Slip." And they better give it at least a 9. That album almost single-handedly whisked me away from Skid Row, Warrant, and Ugly Kid Joe. Manic Compression kicks serious nards, too, and I'd be heard pressed to pick between the two.

i think the headline should mention he was also in gorilla biscuits, youth of today, rival schools and world's fastest card. this should rule though. it should also be noted that manic compression is better than slip.

actually, i think he'll always be best known for GB. even at this point, more kids remember Rival Schools because it was more recent, as not too many people seem to mention quicksand anymore (a tradgedy!).

Production SKILLS?????????? No Divison is hands down HWM worst sounding record. Its a damn good record too, I can only imagine what it could have sounded like.

I'll explain for him. If you take every Hot Water Music record, listen to them in sequence. You'll find that No Division is their worst sounding record from a Production standpoint. The songs are pretty solid, but the tones used on the record are just so garbage. Have a listen.
