there's no way in hell Kelly wasn't being edited out of context,... funny though.
Someone (June 29, 2004)
The best part was when Michael Graves was agreeing that the President was punk, telling the UN to fuck off.

i fucking hate real media.... but i've gotten a new, even lower, level of respect for graves
Someone (June 29, 2004)
I know most of the interviews are edited, but Michael Graves comes off as a nut despite such a fact. I hear he wears his Misfits paint on his site, too. Like he's Danzig or even their real singer. -BSD

I've seen the Lawrence arms live like 7 times, and every time Brendan seems to spout out one sided political commentary. I love the Lawrence arms, and Micheal Graves doesn't seem like the smartest guy in the world, but from what i've heard Brendan say live and from what i've read of him, it doesn't seem like the interview was edited much. I also am basing this on seeing the man on stage drunk, so i might sound just as one sided as i'm making him out to be. Oh well, the segment was still funny as hell.

So pretty much Kelly's argument was you cant be a conservitive punk...because its like not cool.
Someone (June 29, 2004)
He's a wearing a sainte catherines shirt. Great band, those sainte catherines!!!
jamespastepunk (June 29, 2004)
I think I just cried laughing. Hell, they all were edited out of context, that's the point of those segments.
Someone (June 29, 2004)
I liked the part where the narrator said, "And much of the criticism of Graves is just as eloquent" after Kelly made some stupid statement.
Someone (June 29, 2004)
Almost funnier than that Daily Show bit is that some of you actually think Graves is right. We ALL know that the 3 republican punks in the world are on here posting like there's an army of you. You really agree that Bush was being an anarcho-punk by invading Iraq? Wow. Graves looked like a goddamn clown on that show and I think the three republican punks out there should enlist and put their money where their mouths are. If it's punk to join the army and occupy Iraq, then I suggest you red-blooded American patriots get over there ASAP.
notaclevername (June 29, 2004)
man, Graves headbanging to the Daily Show correspondent making fun of him,... i think i speak for everyone who doesn't suck when i say "let the good times roll"
Someone (June 30, 2004)
There goes the last shred of respect I had for the Lawrence Arms, fricking hippies.
Someone (June 30, 2004)
the whole argument this is all became is rediculous. i mean first of all, is punk not supposed to be anti-government??? so why pick one side or the other, fuck it all. and what really startles me is left wingers want the gov't to have more power. yeah that's way punk rock. my point is punk should be less about politics and more about the rock!! I respect everyone's views but I think Fat Mike, Brendan Kelly, and Michale Graves are all stupid for starting this shit. Everyone be like Fat Mike he's the coolest, we all need to be him, he's right about everything. I think Graves just wanted to bring him back down to earth. Since this isn't working I will now. Hey Mike, you're fat, you're band sucks, you're a douchebag, and I hope to never see or hear of you again.

Ok, i'm gonna be the first to complain about the show itself. Whats the point of having a laugh track in the background, real or not, if the laughs sound forced and pretty pathetic. I didn't like the commentators voice, it was far too jokey for me, it sounded like one of those voices on funnest animals or whatever. Ed Helms was a bit loud at points, but did seem quite eloquent in some of his questions. As far as i could see, the only really funny thing was the graph, the lyrics when michale was singing and the country club. Oh, and the tattoo thing. Really over-rated. If you want, have a look at some of these clips from a funny spoof on the news, the day today. http://www.bbc.co.uk/comedy/partridge/life/daytoday2.sh tml http://www.bbc.co.uk/comedy/partridge/life/daytoday.shtml Also, if you want, check out the whole Alan Partidge section, he's one funny guy.

both guys ended up looking like morons and were a bad representation of the punk rock community. I dont see why someone would go on television to be made to look like a fool.
Someone (June 30, 2004)
Edited or not - the guy from Lawrence Arms said some stupid stuff. Just by using the "c'mon" arguement he loses complete credibility. (There is a great South Park that totally makes fun of the "c'mon" arguement)
Someone (June 30, 2004)
Remember back in the day when Beth Littleford interivewed Oderus at the country club? I like her. She's a rad lady.
Someone (June 30, 2004)
does this completely not work for anyone else? i know i have every usual media player installed.
misfits_rule (July 15, 2004)
i dont see why everybody is takin the mick outta michael graves...he has the most amazing voice ever & he is so cool.......
Someone (May 10, 2005)
Wow, you dumbfucks are retarded. That segment was total genius. I give Michale so much respect for going on the show. He's not stupid. He knew they were gunna make fun of him and it was all just to lighten things up with politics. Let him be his own person. Punk is also about being yourself isnt it? Plus, his voice is powerful and he has good reasons to be right-winged and i may not agree on but he's a gifted muscian. One must put aside personal beliefs when judging a band because he doesn't put his politics in his music. go back to your internet porn |
