The Tripwire is reporting that former Dismemberment Plan vocalist, Travis Morrison has named his solo project "The Republic of Travistan" and is planning to release his debut on Barsuk on September 28th. The record promises to "blend rock, funk, hip-hop beats, and some of the most creative and inspired lyrics of Morrison's career."

My friend has been gushing over some dude with a battery operated keyboard, called Casiotone for the Painfully Alone. I got out the dismemberment plan to remind myself how keyboards are supposed to be used in music. Yup, just as awesome as I remembered. "You are Invited" is one of the most meaningful songs I've ever heard. Hope this is awesome. 1+ Reply

I loved D Plan and I'm sure Travis' solo stuff will be interesting, but all this Travis talk keeps bringing to mind that "Totally Travis" solo outing from that guy in Piebald. I think his name is Travis. Yeah.
