It's very admirable that they're doing this, but they should consider giving swing states much more tour attention. Michigan (17 votes) is a major one and not on the tour. Florida should have more than one date (27 electoral votes) too. 7+ Replies

While I don't agree with this tour's message, I think it's a good idea exceptfor one thing. This tour is all about hate. And the sad thing is that a lot of young kids are going to this show to hate with no reason to hate, other than it's fashionable or punk to hate Bush. Remember, Kerry was on the committee that voted for war, and he was one who did indeed vote for war... 11+ Replies

When do these tickets, go on sale? If anybody knows, I'd greatly appreciated it. Thank you.
Someone (August 17, 2004)
You know...if Bush wins then we get two fresh faces in 4 years to choose from. If Kerry wins we got potentially 8 more years of the same old bullshit untill we get a REAL choice. Bush and Kerry are two flavors of the same cheese. I'm voting for Bush, and wait for the possibility of a real debate 4 years from now. 9+ Replies

This is wierd becuase I read a short interview in a zine, that I can't think of the name, but they were asking bands who they were voting for. Mike Park said he was voting for Bush. Maybe he was misquoted but I'm confused becuase I didn't think he would vote for Bush with all his work Plea for Peace. And now this. 1+ Reply

So there is still a shit load of bands that Punk Voters list as suppoters. Dose this mean that there will be a 3rd Rock Against Bush Comp? The bands are: Against All Authority AKA's Avail Bad Astronuat Big D and the Kids Table BigWig Bracket Casualties Circle Jerks Citizen Fish Common Rider Diesel Boy Dillinger Escape Plan Enemy You Ensign The "Motherfucking" Explosion (sorry, big fan.) Fifteen Frenzal Rhomb Gamits H2O Limp Me First & the Gimmie Gimmies Mighty Mighty Bosstones Mudhoney Naked Aggression Rocket from the Crypt S.T.U.N. Subhumans Suicide Machines Swingin' Utters Tool Toys That Kill Youth Brigade Theres some kickass bands that arn't on the other comps. They could still put out a good third comp. 11+ Replies

I LOVE strike anywhere but there is no way i will go for the sheerfact its going to support PunkVoter. Vote. I dont care which party, just vote for whomever you think will do the best job and thats what bands like Strike Anywhere should be supporting. Im very disapointed in this move. 2+ Replies
Someone (August 17, 2004)
Yes, Kerry and Bush are both jokes. How many times do we need to run around that tree? I view the bands involved in Punkvoter and this tour more as a method to get people to think about what's going on (regardless of the answers they come up with) and react and/or get involved in whatever way suits them.
Fat Mike, of course, has his opionions on the matter and, yes, some people are going to follow him. But, that does not mean that everyone who is involved with Punkvoter wants everyone to think the same way.
I believe the second half of the term is "voter." Granted there aren't any good options in terms of voting this year (well, that's what a lot of us think), but the more people see that one...and that voting means more than voting for the president (it involves voting for more people than that), then maybe people can see the bigger picture for themselves..

Are there really pro-GOP posters on here? Or is it just one little squid trying to make it seem like punk rock is pro-Bush? Look kids, punk is about a pregressive lifestyle and LEFTIST ideals. All others need not apply. You have Toby Keith, we have the Clash. Frankly, it's tours like this that make me proud to call myslef a punk. 8+ Replies

Attention all Republican-poser-punks! I now present to you a quote from Joey Ramone: "I've always felt that punk rock in general is a left-wing music form and as our country swings farther to the right, it seems quite ironic that punk rock seems to be picking up so much steam." Strike Anywhere and the Epoxies aren't punk bands, Steve? I'm for this whole idea. I've hated Bush and Gore and John Kerry since before any elections, and before them, I hated Kenneth Star, Bill Clinton and Bob Dole. So vote to make the world maybe .9% better by not re-electing a conservative republican... That said, I probably won't be going to this unless I get free tickets. It'll cost too much to see 2 bands I like and a host of others that bore me. -BSD 4+ Replies

How about the fact that John Edwards is a liar and a fraud. He claims to grow up the poor son of a mill worker or whatever. His dad was a mill worker, but he ran the mill, and he actually made a decent living. John Edwards has made his money, by taking advantage of situations and suing hospitals instead of doctors. He also claims to be for the middle class, but how can you be middle class when you are worth tens of millions of dollars, it's impossible to even be in touch with middle class needs. He has a $5,000,000 townhouse in Washington DC, and a $3,000,000 house on Figure 8 Island, NC. Figure 8 Island is the most posh beach community in NC and one of the most exclusive. Not only in NC, but also the country. His house pales in comparison to the one there owned by Al Gore though. Every time a punkvoter thing comes up, its the same damn discussion. Every post is classified as the following: - It's not punk to like bush - I'm voting kerry because I hate bush - Hating Bush is trendy - Insert random, annoying, pointless and unfunny comments from Jones the Bones - I like these bands but I dont like this cause - Fat Mike is a moron - Insert random, sophomoric radical comments from BSD - There are more than two candidates - Iraq is better now because of bush I wish something new would come out of these discussions 4+ Replies

I looked at all the bands that support punkvoter...and I think its kind of funny how try to make it look like there are more bands that support pv.com, by listing some bands that are broken up, on hiatus, or just side projects of bands that are already listed. For example, Diesel Boy (Hiautus), Bosstones (Hiatus), Tilt (Broke up), Denali (broke up), Limp (Broke Up),or how about Me First and the Gimme Gimmes...Foo Fighters, NOFX, Swingin Utters, and Lagwagon are already listed...seems a little redundant to list them considering each member of Me First, is already in one of these bands. And speaking of side projects, they have The Descendents listed. What about ALL? Why arent they up there? I guess Chad doesn't want to be a part of it. Shit, Frenzal Rhomb is up there..they're from Australia!!! If you're going to list them, why not list WIZO!!Oh well...It kind of reminds me of Black show rest of comment 3+ Replies

In response to TahoeJeff's comment up above...
Of all the wacky shit I've seen on here, this one I have to respond to. In EVERY case the band has contacted Punk Voter requesting they be added as a member band. There's no funny business, I can promise that. As for the bands you listed, only one of them is actually broken up: Denali. And that was very recent and after they gave us a song for the first Rock Against Bush comp. Take Op Ivy for example, they ain't active anymore, but Jesse is still involved in the scene. Op Ivy gave us a song and Jesse wrote a guest column for the site; and personally, I'm still very interested in what somebody like Jesse has to say about the current state of affairs. Maybe that's just me.
And another thing, you bring up the band ALL and how they might not support Punk Voter. Well, based on your inquiry, I took it upon m show rest of comment 5+ Replies

Many of you are looking at this punk voter thing all wrong. Sure, it has some flaws and could be greatly improved. But at least its encouraging people to think a little more about what goes on in this counrty. When less than half of a nations eligible voters actually vote, you know most people dont give a shit whose running their country. Sure, some people are doing it just because its trendy or its punk, but others have truely taken an interest in who leads us. My one complaint however is that the compilation is called "rock against bush" and included are 40 reasons to hate him(60 if you count volume 2). If they want to make a point, they need to have a positive message like for example "Rock for Nader"(even though he's not going to be on the ballot) or 20 reasons to vote for Nader. Get rid of that hate crap! 1+ Reply

I don't think this tour will make a damn difference in terms of electoral results. The fact that it's in "battleground" states is just a front to try to give this tour some "meaning".
