Electric Frankenstein is a prolific four piece from Whippany, New Jersey who since their inception in 1992 have over 100 releases to their name. The band's core of is comprised of vocalist / guitarist Steve Miller and guitarist Sal Canzonieri, with the rhythm section shifting several times. The band recently employed bassist Bill Gill and drummer Rob Sefcik, who were replaced in mid 2006 by bassist Chris Lynn (Hudson Falcons, past member of Electric Frankenstein) and drummer Joe Martin (ex-Kill Your Idols, When I Was Dead). The band's music incorporates 70s punk rock, early heavy metal and 60s garage influences, a formula they dub "High Energy Punk Rock & Roll." Electric Frankenstein pre-dated many similarly minded garage punk acts that sprung up in the early 2000s.
The band is particularly well known for their poster and cover art, with their iconic Frankenstein imagery rendered by number of comic artists, animators, pinstripers, and rock poster artists including Alan Forbes, Johnny Ace, Dirty Donny, Pizz and many others. The artwork was recently collected in an anthology from Dark Horse Comics.
