    There were only a couple hundred when they played the Shelter w/ Sensefield, probably 95 or 96... what a great show.

    I didn't even see you at the Lifetime show... I was in back near the merch table all night.

    I agree. On the same note, I was surprised how many people came out to see Slint in Chicago on their mini reunion tour. Then again, even though they were from Louisville their sound seems to have had a pretty huge influence on the Chicago scene. I wonder how Slint faired elsewhere. I'm thinking the turnout probably wasn't as great as in Chicago or major cities like New York or LA. Did anybody see Slint elsewhere? Just wondering.

    And how I would love a Jawbreaker reunion. Or even JTB.

    You're probably right. Lifetime drew maybe 200 people here in Cleveland; Smoking Popes drew less the other week. I just think outside of the big three cities (L.A./Chicago/NYC) there's not enough rock critics and music industry people wanting to relive their teenage/twentysomething years at these shows, and that "regular" people have grown up and forgotten about the band and/or don't live on the internet to know about these things.

    Plus, I think the whole reunion tour thing has just burned this scene out. On Braid's reunion tour in 2004, they sold out the Metro the first show they did, but the second show two months later was barely half full. I think people are willing to let reunited bands slide through a few nostalgia performances but then expect them to either put up or shut up (i.e. write new songs or go back to your 9-to-5 job).

    The only bands I could see pulling off hugely successful reunion tours where every date's sold out across the board would be Jawbreaker, At The Drive-In and Refused.

    Yeah, it's actually getting pretty ridiculous.
    I mean, lifetime's doing some european dates, and the steal just got confirmed as main support.

    The Steal hasn't been a band more than a year, but sad thing is, they got added because in the cities lifetime are playing, the steal has drawn 150-200 people even on weeknights, and lifetime has currently sold less than 100 tickets for each of the 3 UK shows.

    Europe is always getting exploited by bands and booking agencies, name any 90's hardcore band or even a semi-known hardcore band who broke up three years ago and i can promise you that they've done a tour in the last few years, a tour that raked in more in gurantees than they ever did in their prime.

    Lifetime however isn't cool enough for belgian hc kids stuck in the 80's, but a band like Panic, got a ridiculous amount to play a really bad, really unrehearsed set at a festival, and believe it or not, as a fully paid one-off.
