    Yeah, I don't buy that. If a band played with harsh, raspy vocals, shredding yet melodic guitars, and a Teutonic theme to their overall music, would they be punk, just because they are doing whatever the fuck they want with their music? No, they would be Enslaved, which is an excellent metal band.

    Likewise, if I walked into a store, bought a bag of chips, then punched the cashier in the face, and then recorded this all on a vinyl album, would that be punk, just because it is rebellious and unique?

    Quite simply, punk is a genre of music at least, and a scene at most. It's not some radical philosophy, although that can be associated with it.
