    Didn't Canada just start coming down harder on bands trying to go into the country. I though I remembered reading that somewhere.

    no they won't. canada is turning away people left and right. i almost got turned away for a four year old misdemeanor that was WIPED FROM MY RECORD. there was an article in the paper here about a couple (who used to go there very year) getting turned away for a pot arrest from the 70s. canadian border authorities have gone nuts, apparently because this is what american border authorities have been doing to canadians post-9/11. so no, they don't just "let in anyone".
