I've never had a croissant that was greasy or heavy.

i don't know where you get croissants, but wherever it is, it sounds like the wrong place. usually they're pretty light and flaky if you go to a real bakery.

I think you are confusing a croissant with a McGriddle.

I make homemade ones. They are pretty awesome. Store bought are really not great though. But yeah, real croissants are supposed to be greasy, not so much heavy. They should be flaky and hella fluffy inside. I'm working on making vegan ones at some point. For now I just don't glaze them with eggs.

both times i've been in France they were amazing, i cant eat them here anymore. they're much lighter and fresher over there. the French in general are very bread oriented, the Germans are very meat oriented... the breakfast in the hotel i stayed in in Berlin was all meat, practically nothing else.

I agree. Croissants are so greasy and gross. I don't eat fried food though so anything with grease (except occasionally pizza) kind of grosses me out.

Wrap one in a napkin and let it sit for 5 minutes, you'll see plenty of grease.
