Sadly much of the "old" media is heading this way. Instead of focusing on in depth articles and standing as the final, factual authority on things that matter like politics, economics or social matters, they've decided to try and rip off gossip blogs and the latest bit of internet tripe.
It's a sad vicious cycle for the local papers. They've switched to a newer format that laid off a ton a writers and gets most of its "news" stories from the AP wire. As a result the paper is now nearly complete garbage (apparently the staff they retained can't write) and I (along with many others apparently) stopped reading it. This caused more lay offs and more reliance on AP. While some old media may survive I see this becoming a trend for many news outlets.
