I'm mostly just a fan of the lingerie being sprung on me at home. If I see the decision making process that went into acquiring it, some of the magic and mystery is lost.
That and, like you said, I always feel like a pervert hanging around anywhere near the panty clearance bin, even if the girlfriend is with me.
