Seen Lucero twice and Ben solo once. Ben sings the songs a little differently live, but it's a great big drunken singalong that, if you give them enough whiskey, can turn into two hours of sheer awesome. I advise getting as drunk as possible where you still remember the words and going off.

They play for-goddamn-ever. For people like me who don't drink, it gets kind of boring after the 12th song or so. But if you like to drink, expect massive sing-alongs with strangers and PBR tallboys high in the air.

Sober: Half the time they're really good, half the time they're kind of sloppy and long.

Non-Sober: They're always awesome.

As everyone else has mentioned, drinking is the key. The last time I saw them I had to drive, so I wasn't able to properly enjoy myself. But even so, they put on a great show, although sloppy.
