    I wonder if they got paid per download by textango. Like, maybe $1 a download. That would be some serious scratch.

    It also has kind of insidious potential. What if bands started getting underwritten by corporations? It has the potential to be much worse than Camel sponsering a Smoosh tour.

    they made up for the lack of profit margin by moving more units.

    Did anyone ever stop to think that maybe the reason they left Epitaph was because Myspace (you know, the multi multi million dollar company with the multi billion dollar parent company) offered them a TON of cash to do something "daring" like giving the record away?
    I'd venture to guess they were making pretty decent money from Epitaph, thus them doing a billion records for them.
