That's not the only requirement. You're thinking of publicly traded companies, which this is not because he's not as much selling shares as he is taking your money to press records, make a profit from and eventually burst the bubble on collectible vinyl. Oh yeah, you get a $10 record out of it. What a deal.

Nope, a lot of collectives have "buy in" of some sort, be it hours worked on a farm, hours at a bike shop, money for parts for cars or money for supplies of other sort.

Selling shares does not necessarily make a corporation. A corporation is simply a form of legal entity to organize a business under said entity rather than under a specific individual. It's a good way to seperate the liability of the company from your personal assets.

The "Corporations Are Evil!!!" chant is just something for stupid people who have no concept of what function this type of entity serves. Corporations are morally neutral and don't have the ability to have human traits like good or evil. Their only logical reason for being is to benefit their shareholders. It is the government's responsibility to regulate them to the effect that they do no harm.

These are the roles that were originally defined for how a corporation and a government were intended to interact.

If corporations are doing evil things in the course of business, then it is the government's fault for one of the following things:
    1) Not having laws in place to prevent said evil things
    2) Not enforcing existing laws intended to prevent said evil things.

If the government is not doing their role of regulating industry, then it is the citizens fault for not electing leaders with better judgement.

It looks like a giant mess, but in reality the system does work to eventually correct itself. Hence why you see bottom up initiatives driving things like energy conservation, pollution controls, Sarbanes Oxley, ect.

    Sorry for rambling on...
