for one, how do you know their association the the cast/ crew of the show? second, who cares, third, of all the bands i could possibly sell a toe to sit in on a recording session for, Alkaline Trio probably isn't even in the top 1000

You do realize that they put music on shows long after they are taped, right? So they probably did actually record the song but MTV put the finished version over the actual audio because it probably sounded better that way.
