"If somebody goes to a rock concert to sit there and weep then they are being queer and should be labeled as such."

No, they shouldn't. What they are is a human being. That is the only label they "should" receive. And, if you are going to label someone, and they were being "queer" then that is not the ONLY label they should get. Why not call them a fat queer, or a skinny queer, or an ugly queer or a hot queer? Why stop at queer? Is that all you see?

This is the whole debate about calling things "gay," and it becoming a derogatory term. Gay does not equal lame. When some kid says "Homework is gay," he means that homework sucks. But it is incorrect, bc gay does not have "lame" or "shitty" as an alternate definition. Queer does, however, in the context of the statement, calling "weeping" guys, queer is derogatory. I half agree with you. You CAN call someone queer without meaning that they are a homosexual. However, if you are calling a guy queer bc they are crying, chances are you are implying that they are acting girly or less macho, and in that sense, you are placing negative connotations around the term queer. That is the difference you need to understand.
