Aiden have posted an explanation for their recent tour cancellation which includes the news that guitarist Jake Wambold has parted ways with the band:
We have been consistently on the road traveling for the past 4 years. In those 4 years we have been in seattle a total of maybe 5 months. That’s including time we spent in the studio making the "Rain in Hell" ep and our new album "Conviction". It’s enough to make anyone crazy, and bring almost any kind of personal relationship to the brink of disaster. So we all felt inclined to take a breather for the first time in what seems like forever. And with that, we are announcing that Jake W is no longer apart of Aiden.
We will continue on as a 4 piece. I know this may come as a shock for some of you, and some of you could care less. I just want to say to everyone that this is by no means the end. This... My dearest friends is but a beginning, a new chapter has opened up for us and the fire you saw before will be replaced with a much higher level of intensity. (sorry to all the people who would like to see us to break up, you can keep on hating another day. Believe.)

Jason Navarro talks about Suicide Machines split, Hellmouth
Contributed by an Anonymous Source. Posted by aubin on Thursday, May 22, 2008 at 2:30 PM (EDT)
Jason Navarro of The Suicide Machines recently discussed his new project, Hellmouth, as well as the split of the Suicide Machines. Of some note is his explanation:
[Originally] I wasn’t really leaving the band I told Dan “Look, I miss my kids, I really need to get a Job with insurance.” I talked to the label the label said they would be more than happy to put out our records until whenever we want to call it quits, regardless if we tour a ton or not. So I said I would take my vacation time and do weekends and once a year do a tour, that wasn’t enough for Dan, so it turned into this huge blowout.
I can understand it, he wanted to tour all the time, I just didn’t. It is just one guy wants one thing the other wants another, our situations are both vastly different. A lot of those guys don’t like him, but I also think we have grown up enough to just go “Whatever we are all different people”
You can check out the rest of the interview here on PunkTV.ca.
The disc features leftover tracks from their debut full length, Have A Ball which was released in 1997 and consisted of the Gimme Gimmies' take on several 70s-era classics.

Toronto's Cursed have abruptly broken up. The band, who recently released their third full length, III, were robbed of their equipment, money and passports while on tour in Europe. According to the band's blog, it was the nail in the coffin. Cursed formed in 2001 and released three albums and two EPs.
Yeah, you heard. Apparently, it gets even worse. That's all I know or even want to know for now. We got robbed at the very end of tour in a totally unreal, extremely sketchy series of events that still makes no sense at all, only leads to paranoia, anger and a total loss of faith. Passports, money, all the costs of the tour. Either way, whoever did it, it was a bullet in the head, the end of the line. A sudden and totally fucked up way for it to end, which I know will be fitting when I look back on it. All we could do was play the show, badly, and go our ways with whatever money we could muster. I hitched a ride back to Prague with Tomas. Since I can't do a fucking thing about it, I'm going to hang out with my girl, and friends, stare at some Czech mountains and try not to think about it. Needless to say, all outstanding plans are off. All this shit aside, thanks to everyone that helped out and travelled from all over for the shows on this tour, all the kids and bands we played and stayed with. Minus a few fucked up shows, it was probably the best tour we ever had. Thanks everyone for your good wishes. I'll elaborate when I'm home next week, for now - yes it's true, and yes it's over.
My Chemical Romance photographer assaulted, then made special guest
Contributed by vans4bands. Posted by aubin on Thursday, May 22, 2008 at 1:00 PM (EDT)
A freelance photographer named Nichole Torpea was apparently assaulted by My Chemical Romance's security detail despite having press credentials. A River Front Times story explained:
The man, whom she later described to St. Louis police as six-foot-three, 210 to 230 pounds and dressed all in black, grabbed her arm, led her through a door to a stairwell and forced her to the ground. I was collapsing under his pressure," she says. "I had no idea what was going on. He had no ID and wouldn't tell me who he was. He kept saying, 'You know what you did. Give me the fucking camera.'"
He returned several minutes later and gave back her camera, having deleted all the images on the memory card. His parting words: "You'll never work for MCR or [the band's label] Warner Bros. again!"
The assailant remains unknown, but the band is "looking into it." The band did their best to make up for the incident though, providing full access to the band, including photo credentials and an invite to the after-party celebrating the end of their concert tour. This time around the photographer had no run-ins with the band's security.

Guitarist Knut "Euroboy" Schreiner of Turbonegro has posted an update detailing his illness.
In March I was diagnosed with Hodgkins Disease, which is a "lucky" version of lymphoma cancer (90% percent get healed, according to Wikipedia and other and more reliable health information sources). Since then I've been undergoing chemotherapy every 14th day. That has kept me out of business for a while now, not being able to tour, but things have gone a lot better than feared. Last week they found out that my cure has so far been successful and my chances are as good as it gets.
Receiving the news that I had cancer, but not knowing which type and how bad, was of course a rough one. The situation soon changed to the better once I learned what it really was and I headed into therapy. When staying alive is all you care about, then things really can only go upward. I don't have that much experience with health institutions (maybe except from the occasional meeting with Dr.Rock while on tour…) but I must say that the way I've been taking care of by the people at Radiumhospitalet, has just been fantastic.

Head honcho of Alternative Tentacles, former frontman of Dead Kennedys, and all around punk icon Jello Biafra will be celebrating a rootin', tootin' fiftieth birthday bash. Occuring over two nights, June 16th and 17th, the shows will feature Jello himself performing with the Melvins, performing without the Melvins featuring a new band and new music with Ralph Spight (Victims Family, Freak Accident, Hellworms, etc.) on guitar, Billy Gould (Faith No More, Cool Arrow Records, etc.) on bass, and Jon Weiss (Sharkbait, Horsey,Tonnage, etc.) on drums, Drunk Injuns, Los Olvidados, Triclops!, and Akimbo.
As a special treat, Melvins will revert back to their original line up from 1983 with Dale Crover on bass and Mike Dillard on drums, allowing them to accurately play the songs from their fairly recently released Mangled Demos From 1983. Both shows are at 8pm, and will be at the Great American Music Hall.
