The People Must Have Something Good To Read On A Sunday
This week's most popular stories
Sorry for the slow news day folks. We had some behind the scenes server voodoo to complete, plus it's Canadian thanksgiving weekend. That means that Aubin, Ben and myself were either binge eating or elbow deep in the Org guts. Everyone else? Well they spent the day failing you. Feel free to judge them.

This past Friday rocksteady pioneer Alton Ellis died of cancer in a London hospital. He was 70.
The innovative singer-songwriter was born in Kingston, Jamacia in 1938, launching a singing career in 1959 as part of a duo with Eddy Perkins and recording at Coxsone Dodd's legendary Studio One. By the mid 60s he was instrumental in the launch of rocksteady, a successor to the earlier ska music and a precursor to reggae. His song "Get Ready - Rock Steady" helped name the fledgling genre. Ellis moved to London, England in the 70s where he became known as the "Godfather of Rocksteady" with a sting of hits.
Alton Ellis lived his final years in Northolt, Middlesex and is survived by more than 20 children. Our deepest condolences go out to his friends, family and fans.

California's Time Again has announced their plans to take a hiatus for a couple of years. The band had this to say:
as some of you already know, this is going to be our last US tour for a couple years. Elijah is getting ready to go on his two year mormon mission and we didn't feel that it was right to replace him, so we all agreed to wait for him to get back before we start playing again. we can't say thank you enough for all the support you've given us since the band started. tour isn't even over yet and we already can't wait to start touring again haha, but i don't want to make this sound too sad, because it's not even over, we're just taking a little break. we will be back soon and we hope you will all still be there with the same support when we do come back.
anyway, the rest of us are going to be starting a new band. we plan on recording early next year and touring soon after. there's plenty of information to come, so make sure to keep checking back to see what's going on.
The band released Darker Days earlier this year. They're currently on tour with Street Dogs in the US. In November both bands will head to Europe for a tour with Flogging Molly and Skindred. Click below for the details.
