Hello everybody and welcome to Navel Gazing: your look back at the week in Punknews. I'm Adam White and I'll be your guide through some of the most popular, notable, and otherwise attention getting stories of the past seven days. Each and every Punknews story is built from tips contributed by you fine folks, and here's what got the community talking...

This week some idiot stole the grave stone marking the final resting place of Joy Division's Ian Curtis. Speaking of idiots, some enlightened individual at the St. Louis Warped Tour date thought it best to shot racial slurs at Gym Class Heroes' Travis McCoy. In the resulting confrontation the singer was arrested on a charge of third-degree assault. This incident got a response from Fall Out Boy bassist and Decaydance head honcho Pete Wentz, which was quite understandably miffed. Hawthorne Heights spoke out this week about the music industry's problems, the same week that one prominent UK record company boss urged bands to avoid labels entirely . If you ask me, the major problem with the record industry is this delayed Dillinger Four record. The band may or may not be in the studio this month, but I believe nothing. Classic punk act the Damned is in also in the studio.

This weekend we posted the date for the Revival Tour featuring Chuck Ragan of Hot Water Music, Tim Barry of Avail and Ben Nichols of Lucero with appareances by Tom Gabel of Against Me!, Chris Wollard of Hot Water Music / The Draft, Kevin Seconds of 7Seconds, Chris McCaughan of the Lawrence Arms and others. Aside from the Fest this is the greatest concentration of Punknews reader approved acts that you'll find anywhere. Speaking of the Fest, the upcoming 7th edition now has itself a teaser video. Also look for an upcoming tour from Streetlight Manifesto, the Swellers and the AKA's. Plus 44's Travis Barker recorded drums for The Game's Dope Boys. He was also named one of the "Best Punk Drummers" by Drum Magazine along with Green Day's Tre Cool, Bad Religion's Brooks Wackerman and All / Descendents' Bill Stevenson. This week brought footage of the Dropkick Murphys in the Blue Room and a video for "Help Me" from the Alkaline Trio. Streaming music arrived in the form of My Chemical Romance's live record and a cut from Panic At The Disco's Abbey Road sessions . As it's midway through the year we unveiled your Favourite Albums of 2008, as based on your album ratings. So what's coming up this week? Look for releases from Street Dogs, Wire, Me First and The Gimme Gimmes and Have Heart with tours kicking off from Dillinger Escape Plan (dates), A Wilhelm Scream (dates) and much anticipated shows featuring Dropkick Murphys and the Mighty Mighty Bosstones (dates) and Dillinger Four and the Circle Jerks (dates).

You'll recall the dancing punk robots we discussed a week ago. The `bots, controlled by a neural network and trained to love classic punk rock, were exhibited recently at the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London. The BBC now has video of the pogoing killbots robots in action. In their article on the news organization also details the some of the science behind the project.

The robots were created by artist Fiddian Warman, whose team based their adaptive artificial intelligence on on processes that take place in real biology. Warman formed a punk band for the exhibit dubbed Neurotic and the PVCs featuring guitarist Andrew Tweedie (Menace), drummer Chris Bashford (Chelsea) and bassist Rob Bartram (Chester). The band, along with a pair of openers, played for an audience of humans and robots this past weekend.

Bad Taste Records has posted the cover art and track listing for Bridge, the new acoustic effort from Lagwagon frontman Joey Cape. Click below for the details.. The record hits stores on September 29th of this year. Cape previously commented:

The strange part of all this is, now that it is done, I'm not sure how to feel. It is my first attempt at making a solo record, something I am totally unfamiliar with. I know this, I will never make a record this way again. From now on, no second guessing or obsessing. Ultimately, I am proud of this record. I made something I like and it's time to move on. I hope most of you will appreciate it. I have decided to call it "Bridge". I think the musical metaphor is appropriate because it is something new for me and it will lead me to another place as a songwriter, weather it be a better appreciation of my craft or the butt of another songwriter's joke. Either way, I'm on my way.

Providence, RI's Soul Control are headed into the Getaway Group studio with Jay Maas on July 16th to record four new songs. Each song will be released on a one song / one sided 7" on a different label. The cover art for each of the four records can be combined to form a larger image. The labels involved are Triple B Records, Teenage Disco Bloodbath Records, Hex Records and Dead But Dreaming Records.

The band will tour in support of the 7" project starting in August and running into September. The band will not be able to make their previously announced European tour which was to kick off later this summer due to financial woes.

New Haven, Connecticut's Rogue Set have posted two new songs on online, titled "Don't worry" and "Sunrise Revamp." The tracks will be released as part of their new record Shake Those Hands on July 24th. This record is a follow-up to their 2007 release The Elm City Shuffle.

Cleveland, Ohio's Echoes of Harpers Ferry have posted a new unmastered song from their upcoming full-length Never Forget. The album will arrive this year via Lock and Key Collective. Tour dates can also be found at MySpace.

Kent, Ohio's No Target Audience released their new 5-song EP Gifts and Returns this past weekend with a gig at the Soggy Dog House in Cleveland. The band has now embarked on a two week tour of the US east coast and midwest in support of it. Dates and sound samples can be found at MySpace.
