Story Of The Year have posted the video for "Terrified." The song comes from the band's 2008 Epitaph Records album, The Black Swan. The band will return to the studio this summer to record
their fourth studio album due out in 2010.
The band commented on the album, which is a tribute to the men and
women in the armed forces. Vocalist Dan Marsala explained:
"A story of a husband who
is off at war, scared of the fact that he might not ever make it home
to his wife and family, and a pregnant wife who is left at home, not
knowing if she will ever see her husband alive again. It is an
extremely touching subject because there are hundreds of thousands of
families in America going through this exact scenario as we speak. It
has to be one of the most terrifying situations that any family could
ever experience.
To be honest, it was something we have seen coming for some time now, but were uncertain as to exactly when or how it was going to happen because, as everyone who has ever met him knows, his communication skills leave much to be desired. That being said, he simply didn't feel the need to talk to us about any problem he was having or discomfort he was experiencing with any situation in particular.
For the past year it has felt like we were playing with a drum machine or a pre recorded backing track. He completely shut off communication with us, contributing only to the band when onstage and opting to take no part in any social activity while on tour or to be present for the filming of our upcoming DVD. Whatever his reasons were, he simply was not a part of us anymore mentally or emotionally.
The person that fills the vacant shoes Ratboy left is going to be more hungry and more intense and bring a renewed energy to the stage, not simply be able learn the songs and repeat them for a half hour every night.

Burlington melodic hardcore band Grade have announced plans to hit the studio to record a few new songs from a new seven-inch, and possible digital EP. The band posted this update:
On July 6th we're starting to record a couple of new songs for the At Both Ends Magazine final issue double 7" comp with our old friends from Bane. Shawn, Greg, Kyle and I have been jamming with our good friend Matt Richmond (from the Video Dead and Saint Alvia) for a little while now. What started out as getting together to jam for fun has produced some pretty awesome new songs and we can't wait to get in the studio and see what we can do with them. No plans for reunion tours or albums or any of that stuff right now, we're just having a good time playing together again and we'll see where it goes from here.

It's the first of the month, and so the Bouncing Souls have released their newest song. The band has made the song available for stream this month, and it is also available for purchase directly from their webstore.
Bassist Bryan Kienlen commented:
Once again the Jersey Shore has invaded the lyrics of a Souls song. Really, it's a song about breaking out of the negative clouds that tend to gather around our heads. Sometimes just looking at your immediate surroundings, but from a different perspective, can change everything. In our case, it was the basic elements that make up our little corner of the world, where the city meets the sea. We love the Jersey shore. Have we mentioned that lately?
