Brand New talks new album, future of the band Contributed by inagreendase. Posted by aubin on Thursday, July 2, 2009 at 3:30 PM (EDT)
In a new Kerrang interview, Brand New's Jesse Lacey talks a bit about the band's forthcoming album and also hints at the future of the band. Lacey notes: I think a lot of the record is about us trying to make decisions about how long the band should go on. When I listened back to it, I realized how many songs are about something coming to a close, or knowing when it's time to put something away and move on. Lacey also noted: I'm a little worried [about the new album]. It's a pretty exhausting record. It's quite dense and I think some of the decisions we made don't always go in the most obvious direction. We were thinking a lot more about what we'd want to play when we were up onstage rather than actually what you'd want to hear on a record. The record will be their first since The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me in 2006 and was recorded over a 12-month period from March 2008. The band is currently mixing the record with Dave Sardy for a planned Fall release.

Guitarist Heath Saraceno to leave Senses Fail Posted by aubin on Thursday, July 2, 2009 at 10:30 AM (EDT) Senses Fail has announced the departure of guitarist Heath Saraceno upon completion of their run on this summer's Warped Tour. Frontman Buddy Nielsen commented: There is no ill will on any either side, Heath has just decided it is his time to leave the music business and pursue a career in another field. I think the longer you do this the harder it becomes to leave home for months and months at a time, devote all your life to just one cause and at some point in a musicians life they must decide if this is for them anymore. Eulogy signs Switchblade Killers Contributed by inagreendase. Posted by aubin on Thursday, July 2, 2009 at 9:00 AM (EDT)
Eulogy Recordings has signed rock'n'roll outfit Switchblade Killers. The band commented: Part of the reason we went with Eulogy was because we're not a hardcore band at all. We think the contrast makes for an interesting experience. However being the kind of band we are doesn't really mix with anything being promoted or supported by dumb scenesters and neon kids anyway so we really don't care. We are just happy and lucky to be able to make a non trendy record that we love and have a label support us and put it out. The band's sound is described as "Black Sabbath, Buck Cherry, Guns N Roses and mix in a small dose of Zeppelin and Skynyrd. " They are on the Warped Tour this summer. | Exclusive StreamsReviewsOlder Stories |
