Brian Fallon of The Gaslight Anthem recently visited The Sun to record a cover of the Leonard Cohen classic, "Hallelujah." Brian's performance appears also influenced by the late Jeff Buckley's celebrated recording of the song.

Evergreen Terrace drummer Kyle Mims injured in bike accident
Posted by aubin on Friday, July 3, 2009 at 6:00 PM (EDT)
Metal Blade Records

Evergreen Terrace drummer Kyle Mims was injured in a bike accident on Wednesday. The band posted this update:

After yesterday's practice, Kyle (drummer) was in a horrific bike accident. He was rushed to the emergency room and released late last night full of stitches and a broken clavicle (collar bone). Unfortunately he will have to have surgery and physical therapy for the next 4-8 weeks. So for obvious reasons he will not be with us on our upcoming headlining shows or the Summer Slob tour with The Acacia Strain.

The band's next album, Almost Home is due out this year.

Tours: Franz Nicolay (August)

Tours

Franz Nicolay has posted a run of August dates. The inspiration for the tour was a little unusual, but Franz explained:

A college friend who's now a biology Ph.D. student at Rutgers, got in touch because he needed to go on a plant-collecting roadtrip, in search of Japanese Stilt Grass (Microstegium vimineum), and wanted a driving buddy. I needed to go on tour again anyway. Car contents will include guitar, accordion, banjo, plant press, lots of plastic bags and about 20 pounds of silica gel. We can be spotted at high elevations, rivers, wet spots and drainage areas during the day, and local rock establishments after dark.

Nicolay released his debut solo album, Major General, earlier this year in the US via Fistolo Records and the record will see a European/UK release in July on Decor Records with two bonus tracks - "The Black Rose Paladins" and "There Will Be Violins."

New album "Lividity" from It Dies Today set for September 15, 2009
Contributed by an Anonymous Source. Posted by aubin on Friday, July 3, 2009 at 9:00 AM (EDT)
Trustkill Records

It Dies Today have announced plans to release their next full length. The record is titled Lividity and is due out September 15, 2009. The record has been delayed but vocalist Jason Wood commented:

We're really pumped about this new record and finally releasing it for our fans! This week Mike Hatalak (producer/guitarist) is in final mix sessions for the album and we have also finished several cover songs including a cover of Duran Duran's "Come Undone" as well as Alice In Chains "Them Bones". We know alot of fans are curious about the delays with this new album, but we assure you, if we could have gotten it to you sooner we would have! We have had so many problems with the studio we build to record this album.

After spending close to $12,000 on building a completely enclosed soundproofed studio in the house that Mike (Hatalak) and I lived in and spending over 2 months finishing pre-production and tracking, our efforts were thwarted with a forced move out of the house. That move forced us to tear down our entire studio (salvaging about $2,000 of materials) within a holiday weekend. So we moved to a new house and rebuilt the studio and are now finally finishing all mixes. I'm looking forward to hearing reactions from our fans and foes and hopefully this album will make up for the long wait!

The band is promising a US headline tour kicking off in September, and a European/UK tour to kick off in November.
