About:

"Dischord Records was created in 1980 to document the music coming out of the Washington, D.C. punk community. The label has put out the work of over 40 bands, and has distributed hundreds of other releases connected to the D.C. area. We will continue our work as long as this community continues to create music that speaks to us. Thanks."

Void drummer Sean Finnegan (1965-2008)
Dischord Records is reporting the sad news that drummer Sean Finnegan of Void passed away on Wednesday January 30th from an apparent heart attack. Sean's family will receive friends today from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM at Harry H. Witzke's Family Funeral Home in Ellicott City, Maryland. In lieu of flowers his family ask that donations may be made to the Fisher House at Walter…
Jeff Nelson (Minor Threat) sells rare, unique hardcore merch on eBay
Normally, we wouldn't point out (yet another) eBay auction, but both the auctioneer and the material in question will make this one hard to pass up, particularly for connoisseurs of early hardcore and punk. Jeff Nelson, former drummer of Minor Threat and co-owner for Dischord Records has raided his house and put together a number of auctions of rare and unique punk/hardcore…
The story of Minor Threat's hot sauce
Though it's not entirely clear why punks and hot sauce seem to be so frequently intertwined, a small hot sauce company from Brooklyn has been selling their own brand of Minor Threat hot sauce. The famously anti-commercial Ian MacKaye has…
Q and Not U seeking DVD footage
Although broken up, Q and not U are looking to put together a DVD. The band's former members are looking for live footage collected by fans over the years. Dischord Records is encouraging people to email them if they think they have any footage that may be useful. The members of Q and not U have been keeping pretty busy since the band broke up. Harris Klahr is doing his own work under the name President and recently released a digital only…
The Evens
Now that he is cured of being dead, Ian Mackaye will be headed out on the road with his band, The Evens. The duo will be on the road for two weeks this December, in continued support of their sophomore album, Get Evens. We propose that the third album will be called Evens Stevens or maybe Evens Moneys.…
Ian MacKaye is alive and well
Ian MacKaye, the man behind Fugazi, Minor Threat, Dischord and countless other projects is alive and well. Many of you wrote in with both the rumour and the denial of said rumour and rest assured that Ian is doing just fine. For those of you unaware of the rumour, a myspace bulletin and eventual Wikipedia entry started the internet hoax that Mr.MacKaye had been killed in a hit-and-run accident. The people behind the hoax were thorough, including a real hospital (Baltimore's St. Agnes…
