| Warped Tour![]() Official Website: http://www.warpedtour.com/ About:
The best known and largest tour of punk, hardcore, indie and ska. Founded in 1995 by promoter Kevin Lyman, it quickly grew to encompass all that was good and bad about festival tours. Though it manages to meld many progressive and counter-cultural ideas like skateboarding and punk, it has also become a center for youth-oriented product placement, and extensive advertising abounds. Despite that, it still boasts a huge range of acts and stages for almost any tastes, and has played host to notable acts like NOFX, Green Day, Bad Religion, Rancid, and Less Than Jake, to name but a few of the hundreds of bands who have played the international tour.

They claim his tour is oversaturated with corporate sponsors and that tickets are overpriced. They complain that musicians on the tour are too popular or that the tour has lost touch with its punk-rock roots. They say, of course, that Lyman has sold…Bowl with Bad Religion, Anti-Flag, NOFX, Bayside, Less Than Jake (for Charity) The Warped Tour promoters have announced a charity auction that will give one winner (and guest) an opportunity to bowl with a number of Warped Tour acts. I worked on Down From The Mountain: Oh Brother, the soundtrack and I did a tour around that. I met all these bluegrass people who were basically punkers from the appellations. They don’t get radio; they don’t get a lot of stuff. It was just a natural thing. A lot of people who work on my tours are from Nashville or their families are in country music. I think there’s a lot of… |
