Glenn Danzig, whom you all most definitely recognize as the former Misfits frontman, returns with quite possibly his best album in years. Well, I know all you "punkers" out there probably think Mr. Danzig, who is currently 46 years old, should just retire- but why should he do such a thing when he still kicks the asses off guys 30 years younger than him?

Well, first off, this album is extremely dark and heavy, as you might expect. The first song, after the creepy intro "Unendlic", is called "Black Mass" and it is very heavy, classic Danzig- it's got a great beat to it. Immediately following that is the first single "Wicked Pussycat" and it is a departure from the rest of the album. This song isn't bad at all, it actually seems like Glenn wanted to get a hip hop groove going on here, and he actually raps a couple times- I know, I know.....you guys are freaking out, but it doesn't come off bad at all.

After that the album returns to classic Danzig form with one of my personal faves "God Of Light" which is another very heavy, creepy song with Glen yelling "Not scared to live, not scared to die!". Other great songs are "Kiss The Skull", "I Luciferi", "Halo Goddess Bone", "The Coldest Sun", and the very Sabbath-like "Naked Witch". Another notable song is "Dead Inside".

Overall I loved this album. It's worth your time and money- this old man's still got it. I'd have to say that the best thing about this album is that it is devoid of filler, the hard smacks just keep coming and don't stop 'till the end.

    My Score:

Danzig's "solo" band is shit, I never liked them. When he was in The Misfits, he was great. When the "solo" band was called Samhain, it was even better, but Danzig is so into himself that his ego compromises putting out somewhat decent music.

"Yeah, Danzig's solo stuff is pretty tired. He should have quit after "Mother"..."

    Your a fucking idiot.

This score is for Danzig in general. I haven't really heard this whole alblum, but whatever. The only Danzig alblum I own is Danzig II Lucifuge. I give it an 11. Word.

If Danzig was Elvis he'd be around 70 years old- Glenn's not 70. Elvis would have gray hair and skin as wrinkly as a prune by now. But, I must admit Glenn looks young for his age. Just goes to show that if you keep away from drugs and workout consistently you're gonna look like you're 30 your whole life- the guy looks the same now as he did in 1985! Same with Rollins and Ian MacKaye. If it weren't for the grey hair rollins would look 25, I met him a couple months ago and he had shaved his head- he looked like he did back in the Damaged days! Just thought it was pretty damn funny.

Actually, This album sounds a lot like Glenn's post Misfits/pre Danzig band Samhain. Some of the songs sound kind of like "Black Dream" or "To Walk The Night"- Great Stuff!

Most of you idiots don't take Danzig seriously- but he is one of the few dark metal/punk guys out there who takes his shit for real and really means what he says. If you read interviews with him he talks about how this "satanic" thing is more of a punk kind of attitude in that it is rebelious and is angry, it is simply a front for getting the message across and it works wonderfully.

If u knew anything about Danzig is that all his cd covers- even the misfits- are rather humorous, it's made on purpose

Haven't heard the album, but why aren't there any Misfits reviews? They're one of the most influential punk bands ever and for good reason. Eh well, seems like a very well-written review perhaps I'll check out his solo stuff.

quit after mother? are you crazy? all 7(8 if you count the half new material, half live album) Danzig albums are great in their own right. his first 4 solo albums blow away anything else to come out in the early 90's.
by the way Mother was on his first album, and his next 3 album were by far his best, so why should he have quit?
