When I heard she was releasing another CD by another band on Nitro known as the Original Sinners I dug up my old 'X' cd's and remembered exactly what got me into music. I wouldn't exactly consider this album as raw as you'd expect from a member of 'X' and 2 ex-Distillers. The CD starts of with a fast paced drum beat which you would expect from the lineup of this band then breaks into harmonic vocals from Exene which flow just about perfectly. Some of the high points on this record are Who's Laughin' Now, Birds & Bees, and Whiskey For Supper.
If you are a fan of 'X' or 'The Distillers' this is a must have, if you enjoy good music fueled by hard lyrics, I would suggest picking this up.

Jeeze, some of you people! Exene is beautiful and talented. And so is the rest of the band...sheesh. Sure their particular genre might not pertain to the musical stylings that fill YOUR c.d. cases and players...but you have to give them props for being good at what THEY do and for actually having a fan base. when you can do that...THAN you can complain. 2 people said this review took 10 minutes, those people most have some kind of writing handicap. Surely this could have been written in less than 5. That being said, great review, because it seemed to have gotten under everyone's skin. truthfully, yes, i have seen some reviews posted on here get slammed and wondered why they were. they may not be professional, but by the length and description, you could tell the person took a lot of time and effort to send it. this review would have taken approximately ten minutes to write, and about one to send. dont tell people not to slam it because they went out of their way to write a review. this was truly terrible. this is the first review i have really felt this way about on this site. it is the equivalent of saying "yeah, dude, the CD's really good." if we don't know the person, this has no bearing whatsoever on our potential decision to buy the album, and therefore is a waste of anybody's time to read. unless you're being humorous, reviews should be at least twice that length. I like being a little dick who causes unhappy feelings. Ok dicks. Listen, this guy actually took the time to share his opinion on the cd. You can appreciate it or be little dicks that cause unhappy feelings. You don't naturally write a good review. I'm sure it takes practice. Anyways, before you go and insult someone else for trying why don't you go and write a review? Wow, now I really want to buy this. I know what he was going for in this review. I got the cd and there really isn't a lot that can be said about this album that hasn't been said with X or The Distillers. The album is amazing though. so in about 3 paragraphs, the only thing we learned about this album was "it starts with a fast drum beat and goes into harmonic vocals" ...this was kinda short. maybe you should elaborate a bit... That has got to be the worst fucking review in recorded history. Anyone who reads it will be worse off for having done so. Please never review another cd again. EVER. i dont know... how long did it take you write this review, ten minutes |
