MixtapesMixtapes: Hope Is for People [7-inch]Hope Is for People [7-inch] (2011)Animal Style Reviewer Rating: 4 User Rating: Contributed by: thepopeofchili-townthepopeofchili-town (others by this writer | submit your own) Mixtapes are a band on the up. By my count, the Cincinnati quartet has released 32 songs in the past 18 months or so, with not a skipper in the lot. The group's latest offering and second for Animal Style Records, Hope Is for People, coming only a couple months after their last release, Castle So.

Got mine today. WOOT. I haven't received mine either....damnit Did any of you who pre-ordered receive your 7" yet? I haven't. Hope mine didn't get lost in the mail or something. :( godamn this band are so consistently good. This band is my favourite meme. Really impressed with this, this is their best stuff yet. 'Where I Live' is the best song these guys have written and the whole EP is one of those rare collections of songs you know will cheer you up when you're in a bad mood. The combining male/female vocals have improved hugely and are pretty much perfected on this and it's nice to see some longer tunes. I agree with the reviewer that it was the wrong choice of opening track as it doesn't do the other songs justice. Nice EP overall, will definitely be giving this many listens over the next few weeks, 7.5/10. |
