1998's Television City Dream came after a pretty major lineup change for Screeching Weasel. Long-time producer Mass Giorgini had replaced bassist Dan Vapid; long-time feather-ruffler Ben Weasel had moved back to an instrument-less frontman position, guitarist Zac Damon coming in to fill that spot; and Dan Lumley replaced Dan Panic on drums. In relative terms, it was a whole new lineup, and consequently, a next evolutionary step for the band, musically.

The ONLY sw record worth buying since "Wiggle". All others are pure pop sellout shit. Bu on this fleeting period of time used to record this stellar album, they actually remembered what it was to make music that stayed true to their roots and stayed as close to their pre-1993 sound as imaginabl possible. I don't know what the hell happened on "Anthem" and every record afterwards but these guys turned to pure crap and never recovered. Between the new 'fat mikeish" style whiny vocals to the silly childish lyrics, to the mtv hot topic poppy mainstream sound... Well at least on this one they hinjected some 'punk' uinto it and less pop. Even though it still sounds very glossy and polished, the thought counts and ideas f the past manifested as the stars aligned just right. Even if the primo-donna ben weasel couldn't leave his bedroom to record the vocals. Shows you where he was at then, now, and forever. His band, his rules. he is god, everyone else a peasant and he does what he wants. even if it means punching defenseles undeserving women and spits in the face of all the legacy he once had.
