Teenage BottlerocketMutilate Me [7-inch] (2011)Fat Wreck Chords Reviewer Rating: User Rating: Contributed by: Jelone (others by this writer | submit your own) Published on July 5th 2011
While I should be grateful for another round of Ramones-indebted pop-punk from Teenage Bottlerocket via new seven-inch Mutilate Me, there’s a part of me that wishes the band had held out for another full-length. Instead, fans get one amazing song (the title track), one OK song (“Punk House of Horror”), and a pretty forgettable cover (Bad Religion’s “Henchman”).

Catchy stuff. I love it. I enjoyed this EP. I agree with you on two songs, but Henchman, in my humbled opinion, is just as good as the BR original, if not better. The song is another beast if witnessed live. Mutilate Me is a gorgeous opener. However, Punk Rock House of Horrors as you said, is forgettable. I give it 3.5/5 :) This is one of my faveourite releases of their's, really dig the two original tracks (the cover's so similar to the BR version that it seems pretty pointless however) Contrary to the reviewer, I love Punk House of Horror and Henchmen, and think Mutilate Me is the weakest. Mutilate Me's okay, I hate the production, just kinda makes it sound "radio friendly." I thought it was the perfect dose of Teenage Bottlerocket. I skipped the last full-length, and from what i hear (besides hearing 'skate or die') this is better in the sense that there are actually progression changes. So I welcomed that shit to my latest 7" expansion box. Title track, obviously good. Punk house, good enough to get stuff in your head, even though not at all relevant. Henchman, been a fucking great song, still a fucking great song, glad they did it some fast paced catchy justice. henchman is a short song, so i don't know what else they could have done with it. i really dig this ep. |
