| Good Riddance / Bane / Strike Anywhere / Paniclive in Cambridge, MA2002 live show Review by: Duk See others by this writer Only registered users can post comments Published on July 9th 2002
It was a beautiful Summer day in the city of Boston, and as temperatures soared into the high 80's most of the humanity in the area retreated to local beaches to cool of. A small portion of the population descended upon The Hideaway in Cambridge, Ma to pay homage to hardcore punk rock. Cooling down just wasn't going to happen. i cannot believe you just said 'most hardest'... Ya know, i kinda do agree that good riddance has been sucking lately. Operation phenix is one of my personal favorites and their most hardest album in my opinion, but the last 2 albums they released seemed kinda boring and wasen't as energetic as I thought it would be. I hope they write better shit in the future. dammit, SA at the ottobar must've kicked ass... They played ottobar-oldpunker- its cuz good riddance dont have a lot of palm mute break downs :D I think the reason that "hardcore kids" shy away from Good Riddance is because lately they've sucked. The band can't decide what it wants to be: hardcore, melodic, pop? I've seen the band lose more and more fans over the years and it only hurts the band more to always bring great opening acts with them. They just don't have the live intensity they used to and when you put that with a setlist that gets more disappointing each time....you can understand why people in general just stopped caring. when did strike anywhere play in maryland? i must have missed out on that one. i know they played DC but i missed out due to work. i hate work. I've seen Good Riddance about 5 times and they were only even remotely bad once. I never understood why the newer hardcore kids don't get into them, or even really give them a chance when they come around. I hear their influence in just about every hardcore band around now (ESPECIALLY american nightmare), yet the get no credit. strange? I have seen Strike Anywhere a bunch of times and they have never let me down, one of the best bands around. Always an excellent show. I saw BANE at a show in Syracuse, NY and they were also amazing the place went completely insane and they played with a bunch of great bands. Great review, ive seen strike anywhere down here in maryland and they were killer, definetly one of the top punk bands out there, although the whole good riddance thing puzzles me as they are quite good-oldpunker- the same thing happened in philly, after bane everyone left. i think it had something to do with te fact that good riddance sucks, not the heat. there were very few fans there for good riddance, but the hardcore heads were in full attendance. chaos for strike anywhere and bane. plus bane is coming back in august and playing a smaller venue. Bane is amazing, pretty much the best hardcore band right now. Get "Give Blood" i fucking love it. ...Give Blood is their best, and I've heard things about Good Riddance live, like their horrible or something, I hope its not true cuz their other wise an amazing band Bane played a show in NJ recently I believe and I missed it.. I've never heard them before, but this review is motivating me to check them out.. i saw this tour 4 nights in a row.. all the canadian dates.. all 4 nights it was fucking amazing.. good riddance were soo good.. strike anywhere wow.. cant wait for those bands to come back here yeah, I saw one of the shows with good riddance in hollywood with strike and grade. It was funny, because only 100-175 people showed up, so there wasen't enough energy from the crowd. The 2 bands before good riddance were just awesome and gave thier all despite of low attendance in the audience. Good riddance is like one of my favorite bands, but they seemed kind of tired that night, and weren't as energetic as the openers. |
