What is punk? Is ska punk? If it comes from the legendary Boston Ska-Core pioneers, The Mighty Mighty BossTones, then the answer is a resounding yes.

nothing beats when the bosstones would run out on stage to old school of the bright!! outrageous. a band's 7th studio album is not supposed to be this good. mmb rock and so does this album. this is a good one for punk kids ,sak kids and even skinz,sum41 sucks and old people say the darndest things dude, any site called 'emotionalpunk' cant' be good anyway, most likely populated by dorky 15 year old boys wearing tight salvation army shirts and pants w/ a faux emo dork haircut w/ glasses. fuck that. this album is sooo good. def. wayyy better than pay attention, which had its good points but waaaay to much filler. this album has more of the classic sound. i'd put it second to be honest, after question the answers....although lets face it is also very good. all the albums have their classics though. can't wait ot see em live. I went to emotionalpunk.com and checked out the review... then I pissed myself laughing at what little the kid knew about... well... anything. then I proceeded to email him telling him the real story about the "maturity" of the Bosstones... from someone who knows a little bit about their history. All he could tell me was... "whoa calm down foo, I'm not even into ska". that lost him all credibility. Someone thats not "into" ska reviewing a ska record... good call emotionalpunk.com. Great album, I don't think it's quite as amazing as some of you are claiming but definitly great and better than Pay Attention (which wasn't bad but definitly the BossToneS worst effort). My favorite songs have to be "Everbody's Better", "I Want My City Back", and, although the reviewer didn't like it, "You Can't Win". I wasn't that big a fan of "The Old School Off the Bright" as much as most of you seem to love it. Oh well, still great, especially for a 7th album. OH,AND BY THE WAY,SUM 41?????,THATS GOOD-OLDPUNKER- To the penis that is impersonating the real oldpunker, if your going to, remember to use caps-oldpunker- A Jackknife To A Swan is amazing! The Bosstones' sound has only gotten better through the years. I strongly encourage all your punkers out there to pick this disc up. You will be amazed and it won't leave your CD player for a long time. Truly an awesome album. emotionalpunk.com sucks anyway. I just read that review to see what you were saying...he said the Bosstones haven't tried to change their style, so this cd sucks. Yeah, "let's try to alienate our fans." good idea. I guess he skipped Seven Ways to Sunday and A Jackknife to a Swan, but oh well. Emotionalpunk should stick to reviewing Saves the Day and all that shit. Hey everybody this is JAZ BRONZEWOOD. I would just like to say this album kicks serious ASS!!!! The jerk-off on emotionalpunk.com gave it 5 out of 10 because they "haven't matured their sound and have changed enough". He's a douchebag and we should all give him shit for as long as he lives! Bosstones kick ASS and so does A JACKNIFE TO A SWAN! I really hope this guy below me is kidding about the whole Canada thing, not only is it preposterous to think the Mighty Mighty Bosstones are Canadian, but to even compare them to Sum 41 is beyond belief. Um...the BossToneS aren't from Canada...They're from Boston, Mass. Mighty Mighty Bosstones kick alot of ass. there is only one T in "atrocious". "Even to help you get your point across" is a sentence fragment. then there's "And don't give me some shit excuse, about how you're from a different country...". technically, you aren't supposed to start a sentence with a conjunction and you don't need that comma after "excuse". you dumbshit I am writing it fast, I am not taking my time because this is not some school essay, im writing something to a dumbass like yourself who thinks you are better than everyone else who writed w/ internet lingo. go fuck off, i know how to type, i am writing this fast cause i dont sit here and press the shift key to capitalize things or put apostraphes and stuff, and when i spell something or leave a letter out, so sue me im typing fast (o shit i meant I'm, o shit i meant I not i)---o shit your punctuation, grammar, spelling and sentence structure are attrocious. Those things used for a reason. Even to help you get your point across. The Bosstones did an amazing job with this album it kicks ass. With their release of this album and the new albums coming from bands like the toasters and the pietasters (their album comes out in august) I am grateful to see ska come back. It was a sad day when in NYC the toasters played the hard rock cafe and did not get more then 100 people at the show. WHAT A BUNH OF SHIT, HOW DID NO ONE ELSE CATCH ON THAT A KID DIFFERENT WRITE THE REVIEW. it had to of been by a professional writer (meaning: someone from thei label side one dummy) cause no one writes like that unless the guy wants to but fuck the band completely i liked pay attention. it wasn't as exciting as this one, but it was definitely good music. i thought so atleast. Old School Off the Bright is the best song the Bosstones have done since Kinder Words! I just picked this up today, and it fucking rocks! I thought that the BossToneS were all washed up after Pay Attention, but they proved me wrong. Why do the bosstones always sound so fresh compared to all the others they opened the door for, great cd!!!-oldpunker- no bad comments is awesome!! shocking on this website, especiall a 'ska' band.this album is bomb. mr. moran is kinda like dr. d. this album has everything, real punk driven tracks, reggae driven, acoustic. my favorites were always lets face it and question the answers. not sure where this one falls but its fuckin good.best 7th album from a band i've ever heard. they havent lost a step.i think i might put this one third..i dont' know. the tones are so good. theyre reason enought to go to warped. def. stronger than the new reel big fish album. Is it me, or does "Mr. Moran" sound kinda like "Dr. D"? I respect these guys. Good album. i'll continue the trend with no bad comments. the tones are back and better than ever. another A quality cd with the old-new bosstones sound if that makes sense. much props for not making another pay attention or question the answers. they've never made the same record twice and continue to kick ass. wow...not one bad comment about this album. good. it's increadible. this is probably one of their best. it's like they took the best things about their old material, the best things about their newer releases, took the liberties that an indy label allows you in writing the album, yet still spending a lot of money on the recording, and when they were done, they had this increadible piece of art. job well done boys. yours came w/ an autographed poster? Oh yea, the coolest part about the Bosstones, the cd came with a personally autographes poster signed by the entire band. How many other bands would sit around signing that many posters for their fans. WOW. Fuck yea Big D and the Kids Table and the Bosstons for putting Boston Ska back on the map. Wow. Amazing Album. jackknife to a swan... wow. I Want My City Back... holy shit. Mr Moran... One of the best Bosstones songs ever. Holy fucking shit what a good album. Everyone should buy 6. i don't think u could ask for a better 7th album. seriously, these guys were making albums when most of us were about 10 years old. they've stuck by their style all these years and still have so much energy (sugar free, u coulda told me they recorded that 7 years ago andi'd believe u).you gotta go, everybody's better, so many good songs. i just cant' get into mr. moran though. dumb lyrics, but oh well. how awesome is this cd? i mean, jesus, this thing rocks. They have been my favroite band for years. and after pay attention i thought the bosstones maybe had finally lost it. then they come back and kick me in the teeth for thinking that with this record. its probably their best since QTA. I liked Lets Face It a lot, but I think this might be better. a lot of these songs remind me of More Noise and Other Disturbances and Don't Know How to Party. good shit!!!! i love the opening track 'A Jackknife To A Swan" It's sad, sorta... Anyways, this album is like 10 times better than Pay Attention and I think You Gotta Go! Sugar Free and Oldschool Off The Bright are the best songs on the album (in order.) i still don't think it beats songs like 'kinder words' 'toxic toast' and 'the impression that i get' though... oh well, good overall album, but not really any stellar songs. Best Bosstones album ever Best Bosstones album since QTA! This rules! the 'tones got me into ska (believe it or not ti was question the answers, not lets face it a friend lent me in '95, ok no one cares) and at 15 i was changed. they rock. i've heard two songs off it and they both kicked ass, one is sugar free, u didnt mention it in the review and its fuckin amazing also.very punk driven song, so much energy its hard to believe these guys are in their 30's. go take a listen to Don't Know How to Party. For some reason this album really reminds me of it, without being too derivative like so many other bands end up doing. God, this is like...such a fucking good album. I haven't heard the retail yet, just the prerelease..but I hope the original version of Old School (from the this time of year promo CD) is on it. But if not, you ALL need to get that mp3 (http://surf.to/toxictoast) and listen to it. It's crunchier. I've never been a big Bosstones fan, though I still thing "Someday I Suppose" is a terrific song. That said, this album totally changed my view of them; I guess some people might say that they pulled a "Borders and Boundries" in the heavy rock/punk influence, but I wouldn't say so. This is a rockin' album with some of the most enjoyable ska stuff that I've heard in awhile. i agree with everything everyone here said. the bosstones have never let me down and from what i hear, this is another quality release from them. can't wait to get it! i can't WAIT to get this album. i'm buying it today along with the new chili peppers album. both come out today. i've heard this album from their stream and it's awesome. this one mops the floor with their last album. I am picking this cd up as soon as I get out of my cubicle for the day. I can't wait. I hear its a quality cd from the second best band to come out of boston (the greatest city in the entire world)... ever. (behind dkm of course). The song on the warped tour comp fucking rules, i just know the rest of the album will be even better. this is like the fucking 7th coming for me. The best band in the land, throwin down some more good shit for us once again. The boys are back. I have to agree with everyone. One of the better reviews I've seen. Good work. It was great seeing these guys on Kilborn, I love their stuff and I'm looking forward to buying the cd :) awesome review, i'm looking forward to this cd! |
