| Chuck Berry / Little Richardlive in Westport, CT2002 live show Review by: psychorudeboy See others by this writer Only registered users can post comments Published on July 23rd 2002
For those of you who don't know who these two men are I'll sum it up in a quick sentence: If it weren't for these guys rock 'n roll as we know it wouldn't exist. This show is the rock and roll equivilent of seeing the Sex Pistols open for the Ramones. Now that you hopefully understand this better i'll get on with the review. misfits have and will always rock, danzig or not. as for berry and little richard- classics. that would've been a great show...glad you reviewed it. the misfits suck? HA! well, post-danzig, yes. Chuck Berry is more punk than NFG simply because he started this fucking racket folks and is still as important now as he was over 40 years ago. Wait.......how is Chuck Berry more punk than New Found Glory. I enjoy both musicians' work, but why? I'm glad some people still appreciate Rock and Roll. As far as it not being punk...Chuck Berry was a black man going absolutely crazy rocking out on stage in the 50s...that is the quintescence of what punk is all about...and he's still doing it. Both guys are way more punk than Midtown or NFG so why bitch? Oh that's right that's what the internet is for. Maybe it's because both the misfits and afi both suck the only reason there aren't any misfits or afi reviews is because nobody submits them. if you're complaining then write some yourself even if the review would be bad. Yo.. I saw Chuck Berry play his 1000 year old heart out the guy fuckin rules. Little Richard schtick is old news Yeah, I didn't think the review was that great either. I think all a y'all just liked it because Chuck Berry and Little Richard kick so much ass, not because this dude's writing was good. What are you guys talking about? This is a terrible review. I couldn't even tell what this guy was talking about half the time. Learn how to write a coherent sentence before writing multiple paragraphs. How can crappy emo bands get such well-worded, flowery reviews while Chuck Berry gets this? the only people you can ask about that are the editors. Just to clarify, this is really cool. My whole point was that some non-punk material is ok for this site while other stuff is deemed unacceptable. I'd have sold my soul to have seen this show. I believe I was the one that started the argument on whether a review for Chuck Berry or Little Richard should be reviewed on this site or not. I'm really not trying to be a jerk, and I realize all I would have to do is skip over a review of a band/performer I don't care for, and I do that. But it just doesn't make much sense that there is a review for Chuck Berry and Little Richard on punknews when there aren't reviews for any Misfits albums (new or old, preferably old though), a Smoking Popes album, more AFI albums (Shut Your Mouth and Open Your Eyes and Black Sails in the Sunset)and a lot of other classic bands/albums. I suppose I could write reviews myself but I lack the skills necessary to write an interesting review. For all that enjoyed the seeing the review and their music I say great for you all, its cool that a lot of you enjoy music that you like, not because of the type of music it is. Its just that in my humble opinion I think that other albums/bands should have more priority. Thanks. i just remembered that at the end of the review i wrote "(ps don't give me any bs for this not being punk)" but the editors must've erased it. thank fucking god that someone approved this review. why do people care so much about something "not belonging" on this site? if you don't like chuck berry or little richard, and you see the review "chuck berry/little richard", don't fucking click it. i bet all the people shitting on this review didnt even read it, they just saw chuck berry listed and decided to take up a "cause" to "improve the punk purity of this site". bleh. anyhow, great review of two of music's greatest stars. even if little richard is a fucking nutcase... for all those that say this isnt punk, what is punk? who cares if its punk you like it you like it, i hate fucking glassjaw doesnt mean im gonna rip on people that do like it, ive got better things to do. everyone that can go out to this go to it, just for the experience to say you saw chuck berry would be worth it enough. im am completely jealous of the reviewer and the many other that got to see this Man Chuck Berry is just ripping off Marty McFly! As much as i love chuck berry and little richard, and i'm you posted this, but what the fuck happened to my reviews of Everclear's "World of Noise" and Jeff Buckley's "Grace". Not eerything great is punk. I know. But ultimate record are ultimate records. why were those excused dammit? I'm glad they posted this review. Reviews of this nature aren't a regular occurrence but they're certainly interesting to read. If you don't like it, don't read it. That's obvious. Expect my review of Dream Theater's "Images and Words" coming soon.. i expected people would say this. it was just a really awesome show and i thought it should be acknowldged in the punk world. I have to agree somewhat. I love both Berry and Richard, but I have to agree. I did a review on Wu-Tang's "36 Chambers", which in my opinion display's some very punk-esque qualities. Let's keep a standard here. Either nothing but "punk", or allow everyone to share things a little outside the norm. I'm really not trying to be a dick, so sorry if I come off as one. But, yes, I realize that Chuck Berry and Little Richard can receive some credit for influencing punk rock. But they're not. They really have no business being on this site. I wouldn't think you'd want to put a Glenn Miller, Jimi Hendrix, or Buddy guy review on the site, and they're all influential, so why put Chuck Berry and Little Richard? Sorry, I'm really not trying to be an ass, but come on. Little Richard = King of Rock N Roll... thanks to the compliments cause this was my first review and didn't know how it would turn out. Fuck I wish I would have seen this show, when was it? Ever time I listen to Human Atom Bombs (randy) makes me want to listen to some little richard. awesome fucking review chuck berry makes me all wet. Not as much as Otis Redding, but since he'll never play live again, heres to chuck. Cool review, I didn't expect this. My dingle ling! my dingle ling!, i like to play with my dingle ling!! |
