To celebrate their 100th release Revelation has issued a comp that is comprised of unreleased, out of print, rare, live, and remixed songs by bands that have been on their label at one time or another. According to the liner notes, they really scrapped the bottom of the vaults trying to get the rarest and most interesting tracks for this comp, and I think they have accomplished it. Its sad that a comp made of B-sides and unreleased tracks can turn out to be one of the most interesting and diverse comps that I have heard in a long time. After hearing some of these songs that were left on the cutting room floor, I have to wonder what the A-side material must be like. I also was impressed that while most of the bands were hardcore bands, they all didn't sound alike and play Agnostic Front and Cro-Mag style music. Many of these bands had a style all their own, and made the disc much easier and more interesting to listen to. Please login or register to post comments. Wow, this reviewer must be 12. Dear pat: What is that guy talking about? I don't think real hardcore has even been played regualarly on MTV. And even if it was, it wouldn't make me love the genre any less. Pat, the problem was, you talking about nu metal slipknot, which doesn't have anything to do with this slipknot. What are talking about? MTV? None of these bands are MTV bands. This comp doesn't look that great. It's mostly made up of MTV's new pet, hardcore. MTV has decided that hardcore will be popular now, so bands like that, everyband, is breaking out. As for Slipknot, I don't know, and i don't care. And for that Pete guy. Stop complaining about how punks complain. Oi! If anyone wants to see a real comp check out http://www.Oi-Man.com It's my label, the track list for the comp needs to be updated though. Sewing with Nancie, The Travolta's and other have been added. Sorry Im such an idiot... sorry I have my opinion and dont just go along with everyone else says. You people are sorry excuses for punks. I hate alll of you so fucking much is ridiculous. Try using your own brain for once. Realize that punk is not the only music worth listening to. There are people out there with other likes and dislikes. I realized yesterday at warped tour what I hate most in life. People that complain just for the sake of complaining... and you so called "punks" do a HELL of a lot of that. pieces of shit. -pat41 Pat, I'm glad that you are right winged, Bush supporter.I don't want no idiots on my side. yeah, they're two different slipknots. Pat you are an idiot. That slipknot band was on revelation back in 1990. They are NOT the same band. Hey, the reason i dont enjoy slipknot is because those things on the sides of my head have eardrums in them. And when i hear Slipknot, i want to cry like an emo boy. Besides, no one should listen to Pat41. He is stupid. A big walking bias. Please no one EVER call slipknot nu-metal again. You may not like them and they may be a popular rock band in these days of a nu-metal craze but they are NOT nu-metal. Nu-metal is POD, Sevendust, Godsmack, System of a Down, hell I guess if you really had to you could call Mudvayne nu-metal but never call slipknot nu-metal. Slipknot is hardcore. Maybe not the kind of hardcore you are used to but they are hardcore in the sense of Hatebreed, Mushroomhead (who suck horribly) and Skrape.I dont know how you could not enjoy Slipknot anyway but hey, to each his own. I also think that this song on here IS that slipknot that I talked about and not "another slipknot". even though I have not heard the song and really dont plan to. they did used to be signed to revelation to it is very possible.-pat41 not to be a complete ass, but Garrison's "New Habits for Old Friends" is actually the first track on their split EP with Hundred Reasons, which was released in October, 2001 on Simba Music. Yes, Slipknot(those goofy nu metal gods), was signed to Rev. I think they only released an EP though. 7 seconds complexity could fit into one gorilla biscuit crumb, their good and posi but songwriters their not. I'd start today before Im good to go. GB are all right, but they seem to me to be way to similar to 7 Seconds (esp. in vocal delivery) which would be all right if they had better songs, but they don't. thanks for clearing that up, I was a little wigged out there The Slipknot on here is a completely different band than the nu metal band by the same name. ANYTHING that quotes ANYTHING Tolkien wrote, or even said is just perfect. slipknot was on revelation? crazy. the fact that this cd has a slipknot song on it . ick. oh well the rest of the bands looks good. this is a really great comp, and if u want to get into farside, "the monroe doctrine" is one of the greatest albums i've ever heard. it's mellow, its' hardcore, its just brilliant. highly recommended. |
