One has to wonder if the guys in Dag Nasty got the urge to reunite after they saw a lot of their 80s [and earlier] companions getting the reunion bug. It seems like older and older bands are getting the notion that they can keep up with today's music trends. Some bands are holding up nicely, some bands are bombing out horribly. Where does Dag Nasty's first output in ten years fall? Somewhere in the middle. Please login or register to post comments. What are the benefits of having a Punknews.org account?
by the way, i love you wyzo. what the hell are you doing, saying that this record landed somewhere in the middle of reunited bands mainstream quality if you've never even heard anything else by Dag Nasty. that's fuckin' retarted... not a bad record but I don't find any very good song Hands down, this is a great album. It sounds like several of you need to grow roots before spouting off some uninformed rhetoric about what is should have been. By the way, I spoke with Dave Smalley about this album at length, and "Incinerate" was NOT re-recorded, but it was re-mixed & re-mastered. It is pretty obvious that the song came from a different recording batch. This is one of the best releases of last year. PEEEEUUUUUUUUU......................... This below me is why Scott is great. Yea, he made a mistake, we all do from time to time. Rather than simply find out he was wrong & forget about it, he issues an apology & corrects his mistake. Very adult of you Scott. (no, this post was not sarcasm) Dammit. This is very boring,i thought these guys would come back strong but.... Zzzzzzzzzzzz-oldpunker- and "HONE" isn't a typo, it is part of the SQL call. Actually they are right, Scott. :/ Man this record just plain sucks! Generation X you dipshit! Dear Jesus: I think this is one of the best Dag releases.Too bad they don't plan on touring or pllaying any shows:( I haven't heard the album, but "100 Punks" is a Generation X song, not an X song. I think its a great punk record, and I already had a review underway... I'll send it in soon. Well, Scott, I guess we learned one thing: Dag Nasty fans = rabid bloodsucking hellbeasts. Next....................... Way better than I thought it would be. Dag is one of my favorite bands, but I don't really consider any of their releases after the break-up (in '88) to be the real DN. That said, this is a very solid album. It's not spectacular, but it gets the job done and it's been in rotation in my player since I got it. If you don't have the 3 original Dag Nasty albums (Can I Say, Wig Out at Denko's and Field Day), get those before you get this. If you're lucky, maybe you'll find the original issue of Can I Say and Wig Out at Denko's on the same CD. Okay, here's the deal: I don't see why he should know all about the band just because he's reviewing a "reunion" album. He's reviewing the album, not the band. Idiots. And it's a terribly overrated band, too. Not bad, but not good either. I don't want to start one of those "you're not punk" arguments...but if you're going to review an album by a band...especially a reunion album, wouldn't it make sence to do a little research and get familiar with what the band is and does? and yes "incinerate" was re-recorded you deaf helen kellerifically tone deaf mute, did you listen to the record in a metal work shop? youve never heard dag nasty, yet your reviewing the new reunion album? This isnt a "reunion" mr.bands cashing in on the reunion bug, they dont tour, they just record like they did on Four on the floor, its purely a studio effort. Cover bands are being encouraged on their website to take up the dag nasty. Yer all a buncha dimwits. Minority of One kicks some major fuckin ass. Has a real classic feel to it with the band in their true form. No mention of "Wasting Away" either, one of the most killer Dag Nasty tracks I've ever heard. I listened to "Incinerate" probably close to a million times on the comp before this and it's DEFINITELY re-recorded. No question about it. I thought it was a pretty damn good record... - bigjerk This is absolutely nothing compared to their old stuff. This is no Can I Say. That album was there bread and butter. With songs like "Can I Say" and "Under Your Influence", I suggest newcomers to this bands check out THAT album first, and not this one. A fairly poor effort from a really good band. they should be up front with everyone and just tell them that this is bad religion's OTHER 2002 release. |
