Titus Andronicus created a world of buzz when 2010's The Monitor was released. With maximalist punk/indie rock, the ambitious album captured anthemic, rousing punk rock spirit in eight-minute jams that sometimes included harmonica, bag pipes and spoken word pieces by indie rock celebrities such as Craig Finn. As you may have guessed, the five-piece band needed a little help with that, so the album, and their debut, 2008's The Airing of Grievances, featured many guest musicians. Plus, both were recorded with a revolving door of band members. Please login or register to post comments. What are the benefits of having a Punknews.org account?
Just can't really get into this album like I did with The Monitor. Way too much piano and the lyrics are really crappy. Will give it a few more listens before I give up on it completely though. ha you dont 'battle' with selective eating disorder. you dont like some foods big fucking deal. its no a disorder you fucking dicksucker Well, hopefully this one won't be overly-jizzed-upon like the last abortion they put out. It definitely took me about three or four spins before I really started getting into the sound of this album. It's not The Monitor but what could be? And it does really reflect their live sound much more than the previous two albums. I agree that his voice is higher pitched, and that the production is much more polished. It is starting to grow on me, but a very difficult follow up to the monitor. Haven't sunk my teeth into this one yet, but I gotta say I thought their performance at the fest was a bit of a let down. Everything sounded good except the vocals which were delivered very lazily and did not come close to matching the energy of their recordings. I was sad. Frank Turner played afterwards and made everything feel better. Nowhere near as good as the first two, but it's grown on me. Saw Titus on Sunday. Holy shit are they amazing. I was dissapointed with this at first but it definitely grows on you, although being their most accessable album. This is a strong and welcome collection of Titus songs to add to their catalouge. They could very well be the greatest band out right now. this was kind of disappointing. Also is it just me, or does his voice sound a lot different on this album? This album's 50% off on vinyl at Exclusive Co. I almost picked it up yesterday but I remembered people not liking it. You guys think it's a worthy investment? Definitely their most accessible record to date. Good songs, with good lyrics, just missing some of that chaos of their other records. Nice review. I enjoyed the album. Not as good as the last one, but still a worthy LP. Favorite song would be "Still Life With Hot Deuce On Silver Platter" |

I love you silly bunch of dicksmacks. You're all the best.
This album is fine. This band is fine. We're all fine.
