For a while, there's been alot of good street-punk bands, as well as pop-punk, post-punk, emo and an assortment of other bands with colorful prefixes. But what's happened to all the straight up punk rock bands? It would seem the talent of all those bands that would have been has drained and pooled into Boston's The Explosion.

From the opening track "No Revolution" to it's final song "True or False", Flash Flash Flash is nothing short of a masterpiece. My personal favorite is "Tarantulas Attack" with lyrics that seem to have come right out of the recent David Arquette stinker "Eight Legged Freaks", and riffs that make ear drums bleed. With social conscience lyrics and killer riffs, The Explosion's Flash Flash Flash is nothing short of a must have for anyone who claims to like punk rock music.

    My Score:

this is the best punk record to come out in the past few years. its fast, energetic, loud, and full of the energy that has been sucked out of most puk bands these days. Its hardcore, but without being another dillinger escape plan ripoff. My non punk friends like this album, my punk friends like this album, I like this album. That's almost like... ten people right there. Seriously though, its fast, inspired punk rock. Buy it.

I saw these guys about a month ago and they hadn't broken up. Good show, good band. The only thing I don't get is why everyone is so sure they're like, "straight-up punk rock". For one thing, the bassist runs the notorious Makeoutclub and the bands fans are primarily mod's. I guess that stuff doens't ammount to shit tho, when you get down to it. It just makes me scratch my head in a fashion which is to show I am deep in thought, which I assure you I am not.

They also had a neat little projector screen featuring Dubya and Boobies.

From what I understand, they're taking a LONG break from touring, but they're not breaking up.

This band does something that's been done to death and incredibly cliche, and yet they made it sound brand new. Good stuff. And they never dissapoint live.
