To get straight to the point, the Blind Pigs blew me right out of the water like no other punk band has done since "Maxwell Murder" and "Roots Radicals" by Rancid opened my eyes a number of years ago. Brazil's Blind Pigs are a street punk band much in the same vein as Rancid (my eternal measuring stick). They similarities don't end with the genre. The Blind Pigs self-titled recording sounds so good it could have come from Epitaph. And the digipack artwork is slicker and more vibrant than all but a select few US punk bands. Vocalist Henrike boasts a mohawk that rivals Tim Armstrong's from the "...And Out Come the Wolves Days". The other band members each have their own completely different style. Fucking Posers with mohawks cut in Shopping Centers..They´re a kind of Brazilian Rancid, but worster... BLIND PIGS KICK ASS!!! this album totally rlz... i'd say "Amanhã Não Vai Mudar" is the best song. its a fucking good album but the people that dont know blind pigs you have to hear the 1.st and 2.nd records BLiND PiGS FUCKIN RULE! They're one of the best punk bands ever! and they're really better than casualties. About the comment ("pop punk band") is non-sense cuz the Pigs are a street punk band like Rancid or Blanks 77. to the guy below: why don't you email the band then and ask them what they think of the review? see if they think it is fucking off or not. first off this review is fucking off. who the hell wrote this thing? I've been listening to the blind pigs for years, and they are a screeching weaselesc ramones 3 chord pop punk band. dont get me wrong, they rule, and its cool to hear songs in portugese, but they sound nothing like rancid or the casualties. they are really nice guys too. check out their web site and email them, they always write back. This record is great. Better than most of the stuff on Hellcat Records. I don't think they sound like the casualties at all. Casualties sucks, Blind Pigs rules. It's good to see such a good review of this unknown foreign band. Listen to their mp3s cause it's too hard to find this record. please don't insult music that actually is original by saying this shit is. I never heard these guys but a melodic version of The Casualties sounds bad, though probably better than The Casualties themselves. |
