When I first put in this disc, I thought that it was going to be just another typical skate punk album that would blend in with the majority of the bands that are coming out of the So Cal region. Instead the band stands out from the crowd with one of the best female singers in punk. Her voice can go from soft and introspective, to aggressive and accusing in the matter of a few seconds. She even can pull off a decent hardcore attack for the song “Count Me Out”. The more and more I listen to this, the more I think she sounds a lot like the singer from Discount, maybe with a few more hardcore tendencies. The music on the other hand is your typical skate punk, while a couple songs seem to have a few old AFI sounding guitar parts (their bassist discovered this group and produced and released their 7 inch on Checkmate Records). I think this band fuckin sucks ass!!! This almbum fuckin rules. This almbum fuckin rules. This almbum fuckin rules. They sound similar to AFI....The difference is Tsunami Bombs lead singer sounds like a chick because she is a chick. Tsunami Bomb is for me the best band in the world; I love their music, I love the bandmembers and I really love this album. Keyboarder? Are we living in 1984? What next red spiral hats and a whip? Please the band sounds great the way they are. They are a crowd favorite and any of the band (except for Gabe, who comes off very smug) will carry on a conversation with you. Try and get other bands to do that. As for the guitarist, Mike is the second best thing to happen to TB. First of course is M. Damn she is hot. Pieces out! i like this band. i like this record. nothing extraordinarily original about their sound but a solid, fun band nontheless. they pull the pop-punk/skate punk/hardcorish combination pretty well. and female vox are always a plus. i'm seeing them w/ bouncing souls in a few months. oh and by the way, agent m is a fox. Whoa yeah. I see that. Sounds kind of lame. tsunami bomb is a good band, but what's up with their little comment on mp3.com? i like this cd alot. my favorite song on the cd is "Russian Roulette". Some of their other cds have been better, but this one was way better than i thought it would turn out to be. preach it to the guy below me. the 1st 3 songs are good, than we plummet down to that stupid song about life on the road. can someone say cheese??? but el diablo is a dope song. Does anyone else notice that all those 'they need a new keyboarder' comments were made within a minute of each other? I think you guys are wacked. I love this album. I loved The Invasion from Within too, but I think that TB is way better without the keyboards. I though Oobliette was boring to watch. Have you seen this band live? They go insane! This is a great first full length from one of my favorite bands. Period. Keyboards are lame. I am glad they lost it. They sounded more cartoony before. They sound better now. The keyboard and Agent M were the sole reasons that I loved the band so damn much...it's just not the same having one without the other but hey...life isn't always fair. I really really loved Tsunami Bomb's First two records (B-Movie Queens and Mayhem on the High Seas) and I equally loved The Invasion From Within. Really creepy halloweeny haunted house stuff goin on with the keyboard especially, and though I love the new album as well I am a little dissapointed that the scary keyboardy songs are no more. They should try to find a new keyboard player. the album will do great with little kiddies. But I dont think any musicians could ever take it seriously. They rip off so many bands, so many crappy bands. I liked the creepy stuff they had, but now they are just plain. It was better when they would vary it up more. They really need their keyboardist back. I think all the originality they had took a shit when she left. Agent M is the only reason to listen to this band. She is unique, but not THAT unique. I like the ep and the two records. Ive already sold my copy of the Ultimate Escape back to the record store. this album isn't that great but i gave it points for mark adkin's ramblings on "top 40 hit" The CD is great except for a few points: 1. It's not mixed that well. It's crisp, but the levels just aren't right. 2. There's not really anything NEW. "The songs are not slow live either, so buy the CD but go see them live. You will be blown away." I don't know what anyone is talking about. I loved this album!!! It fucking rules. I also don't agree that it sounds like everyone else, even with a "twist". It sounds really different to me. The closest thing I can compare it to is old AFI, but even that isn't right. The one thing I will say is that this CD doesn't come close to what they are like live. I just caught them at their CD release at The Troubadour and they were fucking amazing. Again, the closest thing I can compare them to is AFI. It was awesome. The songs are not slow live either, so buy the CD but go see them live. You will be blown away. i agree with the person below me. i was VERY disappointed on first hearing the album, because they seemed to have slowed everything down, especially take the reins, which was one of my favorite songs. but after listening to the album a few times, i've warmed up to it. i still don't like the new version of take the reins, but the rest is actually a very good cd. i can't wait till they come back here so i can see them again. This CD wasnt what I had expected when you look at their earlier records...It seemed like it was highly influcenced by a mix of Rancid and AFI with discount like vocals. Amazing records, too bad the recording isnt that great. Now lets talk about the Ultimate Escape. Popped the record in and heard the re-recording of Take the Reins, man was i disappointed. I loved the origional that was released on the warped comps, but after a few listens, i love it. I honestly love this record. Its awesome how they kick you int eh face with take the reins and then slow it down with "the simple truth". I cannot wait for them to come to NJ and NY with tiger army!!! AWESOME RECORD This is a pretty god cd. I like Tsunami Bomb alot and they came through with this cd. It reminds me alot of Afi, with the singer from Discount. Good basslines and Agent M's singing is amazing. Just to correct a common misconception about Tsunami Bomb, they're not from socal, they're from Petaluma (norcal). Anyways, haven't heard the album yet, but I liked the EP so I'll pick this up when I have more money. | Features
