Tiger Army is one of those bands that I really like, have seen live, but still don’t have any of their releases, which force me to rely on the few compilation tracks or MP3s that I have of that band. Thankfully I received the “new” EP out, that contains all their early material that was on their first EP, which contained two original songs, 2 covers, and this disc also gives the fan a couple of demos of their more popular songs as well.

The 2 tracks on this disc “Temptation” and “Jungle Cat” are typical psychobilly style of songs. I really enjoyed both of them; I think that “Temptation” was the better of the two, but a quality listen for both songs. On this disc they also do a cover of Eddie Cochran’s “Twenty Flight Rock”, which is done in a plain rock-a-billy style. It sounds a lot like the original, and shows off the raw talent that lies behind the louder and faster Tiger Army. The other cover was the Misfits’ “American Nightmare” which is an excellent cover. It is done a lot like the Cochran song and even Nick’s voice sounds a bit like Elvis, or any of the other early 50’s rock singers. They also include a demo of “F.T.W” and “Nocturnal”. Both of these songs don’t sound as good as I’ve heard off the albums, I think that on “Nocturnal” the guitars are really soft, and don’t stand out as much as on the album version, but then that’s why these are called demos.

This is a release that is more for the people who are already fans of Tiger Army so that they can complete their collections with out having to track down out of print EPs at outrageous prices. If you're new to this band try checking out one of their full lengths before getting this, I know I will probably have to break down and get them now as well, seeing how I’ve been listening to this non-stop for a couple of weeks now.

    psycobilly is been around quite some years but tiger army has made it bigger, you just cant say these guys don't rock. If you havent bought any tiger army records these is the one that you should start from. this album has there own songs plus a cover by the misfits that tells you cant go wrong.

    Check out Nick 13 from tiger army on some AFI song as he sings some tracks with him very cool.

    To the person a few comments down...

    Mad Sin has been around since the late 80's (same as Nekromantix). They just put out an AMAZING new record on People Like You Records from Germany.

    Sure, some psycho is crap, but compared to the crapitude percentage of other genres (like pop-punk, for example), it ain't too bad. I will admit that it is an acquired taste, though.

    hey, whether you like the band or not, pick up the vinyl (it's probably almost gone by now) and sell it in a year... i got it last friday for $9.75 and by sunday it was already selling for over 20 bucks...

    I caught half of their set when I went to last years Back to School jam with the Dropkick Murphys and Sick of it All. They were pretty damn good. Impressed me.-BostonMusicGuy

    this is good stuff. but vien, just so u know, psychobilly's actually been around since the early 80s, especially in europe. so dont feel so old, cuz u cant be that old to the point where 1980 is kinda recent.

    just to rant, my beef with early psychobilly is that a lot of it is reeeeely crappy. mad sin is kinda recent and very very good. the nekromantix, whom many know from the recent hellcat release, have been around for quiiiiite some time and have consistently been nifty. check out the new mad sin cd everybody (survival of the sickest) cuz its rockin. and get the old nekro cds too;

    It's "Tiger Army Never Die", not "Tiger Army Never Dies." And this is yet another release on my long list of releases to get. I'm sure it's not as good as the full lengths, but it should still be solid fun.

    "Jungle Cat" is grea, I can't get into "Temptation" though. "American Nightmare" is a great 'fit's cover.
